I ordered the classical bouillabaisse and found the dish was a disappointment. I was served a dish of broth containing 6-8 mussels, two large rubbery pieces of squid, one large prawn and two slivers of white fish. The dish was accompanied by rouille and an eggcup size dish of grated Gruyere cheese. The flavour of the broth was good but... More

We had no intention of visiting South Pool, (we didn't even know it existed), but our Sat-Nav took us through it en route from East Portsmouth to Salcombe. Very rarely do we ever just stop somewhere on the off-chance, but we were really glad we stopped in South Pool, which is the epitome of picturesque Devon. The Millstone Inn looks... More

Popped in for a drink - everyone outside in the evening sun - so went inside. Lovely open fire keeping the place cosy. Old beams and tables, stone floor and a wonderful terrace over the stream outside.

I took my boyfriend for a birthday meal here, as I'd read an article in the guardian by Mitch Tonks, and it did not disappoint. If you're a foodie and love great food without the stuffy atmosphere then this is the place for you. Great with friends or as a couple. Lovely setting, and the pub has that lovely open... More

Four of us enjoyed a special meal which was beautifully presented. Good menu choice but a tad expensive. Very good BBQ.

On the evening we ate here they had a barbecue outside serving burgers and lobster, catering for the additional visitors due to the high tide. That set the scene for a dining experience that at one end was in a really down to earth pub with no pretentiousness, serving food that was truly excellent. Each course just got better and... More

Loved this place. Last night of our South Hams sojourn . Loved the higgledy piggledy pub with Soggy dogs and eclectic guests . Food was to die for and served with great warmth. Loved the snails , steak and ginger pudding.

Great little country pub. A lesson in traditional but keeping in touch. Menu has French influence but very much built on local ingredients Very nice food, and pump ales Reasonable prices

Deb's and I (plus Katie our greyhound) ate one of the best roast beef sunday lunches today we have tasted in years. Magnificent local, full flavoured beef, an assortment of Mediterranean vegetables and perfect roast potatoes cooked in duck fat. But it was the Yorkshire Pudding that stole the show. I would love to know how you get such tasty,... More

Delicious food in a cosy Devon Inn. Great value, local produce, friendly staff. Quote of the night from our waitress: "Yes the mutton is good. I ate it for lunch and it's from my farm"
