For unconnected reasons had Dinner one night and lunch the next day at the Goldcroft. Both meals were superb. There is a Lunch time menu which was great value for money. Service was good Staff very friendly. Can recommend this pub .

Booked an evening meal here which did not disappoint. Tasty starter and both mains were very good. Service was also great, especially as it was table service only.

Myself and my family visited the goldcroft this week having heard raving reviews about their food. My daughter booked the table prior. When we arrived we were greeted by a pleasant young lady who took our drinks order. The place was very quiet due to...covid and the day before people returned to work after the new year. We were shown to our table and handed the menu. On selection we were told many if the items were not available, much to the annoyance of my daughter as everything she fancied was not available. If we were told this upon booking we would have probably gone elsewhere. I ordered the vegan Irish stew, being a vegetarian and there not being a lot of choice on menu. It stated root vegetables, mushrooms, crispy fried potatoes in a rich guiness gravy priced at £13.95. Well I think if I'd put a spoonful of marmite in water and poured it onto uncooked vegetables would have tasted better than what was served to me. Unfortunately when the young lady asked if everything was OK I didn't comment as the menus had been removed from the table so I couldn't compare the dish to that of the menu. It was only when we ask for a dessert menu that I read it again and realised what was served to me was not that stated on the menu. The only root vegetable was the hard carrots. The potatoes were boiled new potatoes and I had peas and shredded cabbage with not a mushroom in sight. I did raise it to the assistant when she collected the plates and she said I should have said something when she asked if everything was OK. I explained that we only noticed when the menus were returned to us. I also said 13.95 was expensive for a bowl of soup. She apologised and when I said i was vegetarian and there wasn't a lot of choice she agreed and apologised again. I must say that this wasn't the reaction I expected and would definitely not recommend eating there if you are a vegetarian.More

Was getting frustrated with the bar staff as they were unfriendly with no system or cared about who was waiting. But when we were sat at the table the experience greatly improved. Friendly waitress, great menu and delicious food. A tad expensive but very well...presented.More

The 3 stars was for the food but as for customer service I would give them 0. We booked a meal for 2pm for my daughters birthday there was 21 of us altogether. The starters came out but we then waited another 45 minutes before...the main meal was served and for many of us who didn't have starters it was a long time to wait. Then the last orders bell rang about 5.30. When we asked why it was last orders we were told that thats when they were shutting. The real reason they shut early was because the singer that was due to perform at 6.30pm had covid so couldn't attend. We weren't informed in the run up to our booking that they were shutting early. Most left not long after that but a few of us were waiting for taxis so we asked if we could wait in the warm until they arrived which was 5/10 minutes and we were told no and if we wanted warm we had to go to the pub a few doors down. My mum who is 80 and has copd plus other health issues asked nicely again is she could wait in the warm but they basically took my husbands drink which was still half full and ushered us out of the door and the manager was so rude. We will never bother going back again!More

Great atmosphere to eat dinner, had just the right amount of tables and staff for these COVID times. The quality of the food was very good. A few of us had fish and chips, batter was good quality and the chips were described as ‘real’....The chicken Cesar salad was also very tasty. I had parmesan garlic dough balls to start, which weren’t to my taste. They were dry and the taste of parmesan and garlic didn’t really come through for me. I would describe these as a side dish to accompany a main course rather than a starter course. Putting that to one side, the restaurant was clean, the quality if food was good, and the service was good as well. Expect o pay around £30-£35/ head for 3 courses and an alcoholic drinkMore

As I am leaving for 3.5 months I took 8 of the family for a good bye meal, last time I came here the food was amazing! This time the fish chips was basically batter and hardly any fish inside and for £15 that is...pricey, the pub did act and took the 2 bad batches off my bill, the rest of the family really enjoyed their food and great sized portions, just a comment on the cheesecake it is delicious but not very practical to eat from a glass as you cannot eat the cake and biscuit together very well- I would change the presentation of the dish as it tastes good. Of course a pricey pub compared to others around but service was quick and Rhian polite and helpful, I still left a tip even though not 100% as these things happen I will return in the future also.More

Came here twice for evening meal whilst staying at a relatives up the road. Absolutely fantastic food on both nights. Portions are generous, could only manage starter and mains on both visits! The rib beef was enormous but so tasty and the duck was cooked...better than the first time we had it at a restaurant in Paris! Would definitely be our go to choice for eating out on our next visit. Staff are really friendly and helpful too.More
