Perfect place for a dinner with friends, family or lovers. Excellent welcome, from the beginning in this beautiful setting, by the boss and these employees ( waitresses ), with little care throughout the meal, a very warm atmosphere, we feel at home... Menu 6 surprise dishes, I was won over from start to finish... the cuisine is refined (thanks to the cooks we don't see but who do a very careful job, both on the taste of the dishes, and on the presentation ). I recommend this address with my eyes closed.
Thank you to the whole team for a great evening we spent.

AMAZING! It is a great restaurant, hidden in a small village near Basel. A marvelous experience, in every detail, you feel in a big family. All staff is very careful, taking care of every detail, wine menu is extensive and with great selection, food is in the perfect temperature, and an experience for all sense. That particular day, was a chorus, singing all the afternoon long. Indeed, it is a place that last in the memory!

We found this amazing place while traveling around the environs of Basel, Switzerland. We were so impressed with the quality of the dining experience, the taste of the food and the friendliness of the staff. I don't have enough superlatives to express our enjoyment.

We had the Couronne d'Or on our list for a long time, because many friends and acquaintances had had good experiences and it also made a very good impression. Three of us went for dinner in mid-December and were looking forward to a great pre-Christmas meal. The ambience in the next room was very nice and cozy. The main dining room was fully booked with a large group. We had already feared that the kitchen and the service would be completely absorbed by the company. The menu is very balanced, with something for every taste. We had the salad with fried Camembert and the carpaccio as starters. All the plates were ice cold! The salad was presented a little carelessly and the Camembert was unfortunately (already) cold and still (or again) solid on the inside. After we complained about this, the kitchen reheated the Camembert pieces. The carpaccio itself was delicious, but was so overpowered by a penetrating addition of truffled oil that the delicate flavor of the meat was completely lost. I had the penetrating taste of truffle oil in my mouth the whole evening. What a pity! For main courses we had the salmon, the veal steak with Roquefort and the duck breast. Unfortunately, the salmon tasted a bit "fishy" - almost rancid - and you didn't get the otherwise fine taste of salmon in your mouth. The veal steak was nice and pink on the inside, but only tender in the middle, otherwise too firm and dry, even the knife had trouble getting through there. The duck was good at first glance, nice and pink, but here too, too, much too dry and tough, not what you're used to from a duck breast, pink juicy meat with a nice crust... none of that. The vegetable side dish was a well-cooked "mush" mixed in a bowl. The fries were good, though. The wine (Burgundy, 2017) was good, but they also offer Burgundy wines from 2020, which are actually far from ready to drink. As compensation, the restaurant offered to not charge us for my wife's main course. That's nice, but it doesn't solve the problem that the kitchen was either too busy with the company or that the food was not prepared as it should have been. Was it the choice of ingredients? We all had stomach problems that night. Do we want to go there again? We don't know yet... What a pity!

Unfortunately, it wasn't a good experience. We came spontaneously - the restaurant was busy. We ordered and my wife's starter and drinks arrived after a wait that was just about acceptable. The table was cleared and then nothing happened - the service staff looked at us regularly in a stressed manner - but nothing. I asked politely and they said it would be right there... New guests came and ordered exactly my main course and received it 20 minutes before me. I complained and wanted to pay - then our main courses finally arrived - unfortunately not the main course my wife had chosen and the reordering of drinks was simply ignored.
We won't be seen there again - we weren't even offered a coffee - the wait from ordering to the main course was 75 minutes.
No merci!

During a short visit after a bike ride.
Ordered a cheese platter with 3 different cheeses.
The Munster cheese was sprinkled with cumin. An absolute no-go.
When I intervened with the service, saying that this was an Alsatian speciality made with real cumin, I got a snippy reply from the very unfriendly waitress.
That's not in Alsace...
Completely ignored me.
For me... never again Couronne d'Or.
I don't want to ruin the beautiful memories
of this once great restaurant.

Located at the very center of the village and pas ed by for years and years, we finally made it there.
It was a great surprise (even if it probably shouldnt be a surprise to be honest). After having an amazing treat by the friendly staff and amazing food, we left happy. We will return for sure.

Once you walk inside this place you are taking away from its decor … it is a beautiful space with a great interior layout … don’t be fooled from its street appearance..
We had a great experience dining here with family , although some meals didn’t quite match the ambience of the place , in saying that .. I would recommend this place though and would happily go back myself

I love this place - the atmosphere and the food. The food did not disappoint- as always it was carefully prepared and very tasty. We had the warm gusts cheese fir starters and had duck and entrecĂ´te for our main meals.
The service was efficient- but not so friendly; I get it- we are not French speakers. That’s the one thing that kept my review from being a 5.
It’s easy to get to on public transport- take the number 10 tram from Basel to the Leymen stop and walk down the hill :-) warning- coming up the hill after the meal is harder :-)
Definitely worth a visit!

Very pretty decor with fresh flowers and a light dining room.
Lots of families, from small babies to grandparents.
Good traditional offerings at reasonable prices. Excellent filet, tasty mussels and good cod dishes.
Service got a bit slow towards the end, but it was a busy Friday evening.
Recommend.

The large main dining room at La Couronne d'Or is always beautiful, and in good weather it's great to sit outside on the patio or in the garden. The service is friendly and charming. For all of this I give it top marks - plus it's conveniently located not far from the no. 10 tram stop in Leymen, France, so easy to get to from Basel. But in all the years I've been going here (and I go back again and again) I have never been impressed by the food. It's good, but not great. My most recent visit confirmed this for me. Still - a charming place to go, especially with a large party.

Jonathan and the Couronne d'Or team did a fantastic job in hosting our son's wedding. Faultless, from initial discussion of menu and wines, through to table setting, service and food. Made good use of the main restaurant (like a Parisian bistro with panelled walls), the conservatory and terraced garden for the apéro. Excellent ambience. Superb buffet for first course, with served beef and guinea fowl for main course. As Leymen residents, we know this restaurant well, and particularly like the rack of lamb and good range of wines.

Had a group dinner with colleagues at La Couronne D’Or in May 2018. Because there were so many of us, we had a set menu. The starter was an asparagus veloute and was just out of this world! This was followed by a delicious cod a la provencale, then a steak with vegetables, spaetzle and fries (sadly, but I suppose I expected due to the mass catering, the steak was a bit too cooked for my liking) and finally a trio of desserts. Overall, really nice meal
