My friend Piero Begali said he was taking us to "our Tavernette." He'd been to the local place in our neighborhood in Ohio, so he was taking us to his version in Brescia. . . . Not too far off target at all: It was...just like going to the place down the street. . . . Friendly, warm decor & nice, helpful folks who got the four gringos through the menu and on the way to a full-tilt, four-course Italian dinner. . . . Started with pasta, went through a plate of sliced meat, then roasted meat and then more food and a salad. With plenty of good local wine & the companionship of our friends. . . . We all got a bit crazy, singing and dancing around the table and no one bothered us at all about it. It was a wonderful meal and a great evening. . . . If we'd had more time -- which is a whole 'nother story -- I'd have asked to go back and have another fine meal there. . . . Be prepared to take your time and fill your plate again and again. The food is delicious, well presented & plentiful. The waitresses were very quick to answer our questions and requests. Good food, good place, good times. . . .
