We’ve been in Barbados several times over the last six years, but not had the good fortune to stumble across Il Tiempo until the beginning of this week. We popped by without a reservation as we had just arrived on the island and they happily made space for us even though they were booked out on the occasion. We chose the barracuda tartare as a starter, then had the catch of the day and the fried seafood platter. Everything without exception was cooked to perfection, with the tartare being the standout dish. The staff are attentive without being claustrophobic, ensuring wine and water is always topped up. We came back this evening and had the tartare once again, this time followed by the seafood soup. It’s up there with the best I’ve had and would strongly recommend this to anyone visiting the west coast. Although the prices are a little more than the flying fish cutter bars, the standard of food is unparalleled and you’d be paying twice as much for similar (or occasionally lesser) food at some of the more famous sites.

Had an impromptu lunch here and it was casual but lovely: good service and very good, crisp, pizzas and a dessert. Service was sufficiently attentive. We went back for dinner and it couldn't have been a more different experience. They were playing incredibly loud music, the kind you would hear at a festival more than in a restaurant. We had two rather disinterested waiting staff, nobody came to ask how our food was or whether there was anything else that we wanted. Bearing in mind I left most of my one and only course (the fried mixed seafood) because it was so bland, I would at least have expected them to ask if it had been OK when they cleared the plates if not earlier. The others in the party had two courses. Some were fine but one other main course, like mine, was entirely lacking in seasoning. Had we been for dinner first instead of lunch I would not have gone back.

First of all thanks for your review and for the attention that you gave to your experience that was good for lunch and not good for dinner.I apologize for the music but we are also a bar and when we held the happy hour we are playing music.Surely if was bother you we can move you to another table not so close to the bar.We are very disappointed if none of our staff member asked to you if your food was ok.But sometime if everything has been eaten they do not want be too invadent.We will certainly address your complain to our staff member and we really hope that you will give to us another try and we sure you will be happier.We give a big importance to the review and reading about our place can only help us to be better for all our customer specially the repeating customer as you were.Thanks again

Warm welcome from Leo on arrival. Beautifully made cocktails (recommend the Negroni)...whilst waiting for our meal we were given the most lightest delicious focaccia bread we had ever eaten. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection in authentic Italian style. Great place. Stunning location by the sea. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed coming here previously for happy hour and dinner and looked forward to a repeat visit. That was 2018 and in 2021 things are not the same. We had a dinner reservation for 6:30 pm and intentionally arrived at 5:00 pm for the happy hour which ends at 6:00 pm. Although we were seated quickly, nobody took our drink order until 5:30 pm. Our drinks were not served until 6:00 pm. No chance for a second round but the sunset views were fabulous. We did get dinner menus at 6:30 pm. We ordered sometime before 7:00 pm. At least the Caesar salad and garlic cheese bread were served because the entrees of lasagna and beef short ribs did not arrive until after 8:00 pm. Several other tables were seated after us and served and even finished before our food arrived. It's usually wonderful when a restaurant lets you take your time enjoying a meal, but not taken to this extreme. Even when I got the check, another 15 minutes went by until someone told me that I need to take my credit card up to the bar to pay. It was almost 9:00 pm by the time we left. Instead of the enjoyment of a good meal, I felt exhausted. The review of 3 dots is based on 1 dot for service, but 5 dots for the excellent food.

Dear customer first of all thanks for the time you dedicated to us to write your review that need a reply because what you describe as a marathon was a Christmas Holiday dinner in a night very very busy. First of all you had a reservation at 6.30 but you arrived without any previous notice at 5.00 because you said that you would like your drinks in the happy hour that was from 4pm to 6pm.Also if the restaurant was so busy we gave to you this opportunity and you seat at your ocean view table. With such a big crowd you got your two drink during the happy hour time and you asked for the menu`at 6.30.Your order entered in the kitchen at 7.10 because you were not ready and you got your Caesar salad and your garlic bread with cheese at 7.30.You finished your appetizer at 7.45 and you got your main course at 8pm.So two courses dinner in 1 hour and 45 minutes on the 23rd of December with another 120 guests.You finished your meal at 8.30 and you asked the bill at 9.10.You got your bill after 10 minutes.The security system for the credit card required now a protocol and this is the reason that when we give the bill we also comunicate that the payment must be done in the entrance.We monitor with our system the dinner of all our guests to be sure that if is any complain we can give an answer as happened in your case.We are very sorry for your 3 dots because we think we did not deserved your critic.But we are also happy that you enjoy our place and food.Just remember that Barbados is an holiday destination and need your help to make you relaxed.

I recently visited Barbados with a large group of friends and have nothing but positive things to say about the friendly people who live on this island. Sadly the same can’t be said for the owner and staff of this restaurant. We rang the restaurant, booked a table for 8 people and asked about the cancellation policy as we were within the 24 hours of the booking already. The staff member assured us that as long as we didn’t cancel the booking “last minute” then we were able to do so. That evening 3 hours before the booking we decided that we were going to order a take away elsewhere so rang the restaurant to cancel our table. The owner picked up and I simply couldn’t believe how she spoke to me. She laughed at me on the phone and said that there is no way I could cancel the table, despite a member of staff saying that it was possible when we made the booking originally. For the cancellation she said she would charge us 800 Barbados dollars if we didn’t turn up! Now of course I appealed this and tried to explain the conversation that had happened previously with one of her staff, but she would not let me even finish a sentence. She was so aggressive and dismissive of everything I was saying. I only knew she was the owner because I asked to speak to a manager about the disgusting way I was spoken to! Since the owner refused to cancel the booking we said that if we were being charged that much to cancel we might aswell come to eat at the restaurant so said we will see her in a few hours. Moments later she had charged the credit card we gave for the booking 800 Barbados dollars! From the reviews it seems like the food is good at this restaurant but clearly they need to learn how to deal with customers. Regardless of if there was a miscommunication the above is shuts not acceptable. Anyone going there please be careful.

First of all we would like to thanks the reviewer for the time he dedicated to us giving to our potential customers and travelers the version of a person who felt disappointed .We really understand his anger but he really need to blame only himself and his careless behavior. Our reservation policy , that is the same for almost all the restaurant in Barbados and all over the word requires credit card details to get a confirmation and gives a 24 hours of chances to make a cancellation free of cost. We are always very clear in this process and when the potential customer took the reservation for 8 people and gave to us his credit card details we underline that they could have cancelled the booking up to 24 hours prior the reservation. Only 1 hour before the reservation time he called us to cancel the reservation because (as he said) his dinner plan changed. We reminded to him that we were going to charge him for his last minute cancellation but instead to accept our policy, that was already explained to him via telephone, he became very disgraceful. Using social and Tripadvisor site with the intention to damage a business place it is a low alloy but this is the bad part of our wonderful job and we will accept it with a big smile.

Wonderful staff. Incredible food. Recommend the octopus carpaccio or the linguine with lobster in a garlic brandy sauce etc. So romantic to dine there with the waves lapping the shore. Welcoming owners. Our favourite restaurant on the island.

The setting for this restaurant could not be more beautiful. That's where the good news stops. We arrived at 5.30pm and left at 8.05pm. The service was extremely slow, perfunctory and lacked any warmth or welcome. The mozzarella, basil and tomato starter was 3 mouthfu!s worth, with barely a whole tomato having been used. The mozzarella was sliced extremely thinly and the basil leaves no bigger than my little fingernail.the main (catch of the day) was a small piece of fish, well cooked and tasty but lukewarm with a little salad. Our bill for two gin and tonics, one small glass of cabernet sauvignon, two salad starters and two meagre mains came to 291 Bajan dollars ÂŁ105). So if you want to leave a restaurant with both an empty wallet and an empty stomach, do book. To add insult to injury the experience was further ruined by a woman in an emerald green satin overshirt who shouted constantly at the table behind us to the point where we couldn't hear ourselves speak. Apparently she was the owner! Well that fits.

Thanks for your review and for the time you dedicated to us but the travelers that can be our potential customers need to know also our version of your complain .First of all you came in 4 people at 5.30 to be able to get drinks during our happy hour and you were seating until 7 refusing to give to our waitress a food order because you said that you prefer watching the sunset . Your order was taken at 7.10 because you asked so and you finished a two courses dinner at 8…and this is not slow service.We do not serve small glass of wine because our glass has a measure that is the international measure.The two of you got two appetizer and two main course plus 4 drinks and your bill was 265bds plus 10% of service charge included a 17..50 % of tax.So your dinner cost 70US per person included tax and service without any complain that was done from you.Our restaurant is Italian and our customers loves our atmosphere and we are sorry if you did not enjoy that vibe…very strange that the other couple sitting at your same table give us compliments for the food and for the night and left also tip plus the service charge …different opinions

My initial review lacked details which I thought I would spare the readers, but doing so led readers to believe I was dissatisfied with the company policies. This is not the case. I can respect that companies get busy and cannot accommodate everyone. My treatment by the owner, and from the additional reviews on other platforms, of customers in general, is what is disappointing about this restaurant. She could stand to hire a social media manager and benefit from training in customer relations. It's obvious some folks get good customer treatment, but there is no consistency. Here's what happened to me and my sister at Il Tempio...The owner first asked me if I wanted to order pizza. I told her no, but my sister does. She did make me aware that they were busy then asked if I knew what I wanted to order. I said no, that I need to see the menu. So she carried on about me not being a regular and having to take responsibility for ordering an item that I am unfamiliar with and may not like when I get home. I asked what is the difference between ordering something I've never had before as a dine-in versus a Takeout. So, she reluctantly produced a menu for me. In response to the first two choices I asked for, she told me no, that I cannot take those away because they are too big for take away orders. She proceeded to tell me that all I can order for take away would be pizza, which I did not want. It was her rudeness and lack of adequate customer service that prompted my disappointment. I see mixed reviews about the food, but it seems most patrons like the food by their reviews. For me, if I am spending my money on food prepared outside my home, I am paying for the entire experience, not just the food. I could have accepted she was busy, but why put me through those motions. I can tell, and she admits, I am not the first to have complained about her rudeness. She even says that I won't be the last. Like I said, poor customer relations and what's worse, no willingness to even improve for the benefit of her own establishment.

Dear reviewer this is the sext times that you dedicated your time to us writing for the same reason, about our place (2 on tripadvisor,2 on Google ,1 on instagram and 1 on facebook) and we are not so sure that as you said, you respect companies policy that get busy and cannot accommodate everyone because all that are you doing is exactly the opposite since you asked before for a table and after for a take away. Are you care so much about our potential customer to write so many reviews against us that supposed to describe the 3 minutes that you spent at the entrance of our place? 3 minutes ...yes 3 minutes ..this was the time you spent in front of our manager asking for a table and for a take away when she replied that we were fully booked...We are running a business place and we would like to accommodate everyone because this is our job and this is our source of profit.But often because of the size of our place we cannot do it .Do you want blame us because you cannot get a table or a take away? go on and write another thousand reviews if this can satisfied your thirst of revenge ...we will try to survive ...but the truth is only one you did not accept our negative response to your request and this has nothing to do with what you trying very hard to describe as a `horrible customer relation`also because you were not neither for the 3 minutes our customer

I like Italian food and this would be "up with the best", the food was excellent. fresh fish, pasta, breads, oils and a cold bottle of wine! - doesn't get much better! We did feel slightly rushed, but this was a result of the rules on lockdown (at the time, you had to be home for 9am, so they guys (staff/owners) had to clean/close up and get home before 9pm, so slight "rush" but don't let this put you off..... the service, quality of food, value, setting etc........ 5*****. team of 13 visited, everything was prepared and brought out quick, hot, fresh and to a very high standard. first time of visiting, but would go back and put on the "defo list"

Thanks a lot for your review full of details for potential customers that don’t know us yet.We are so sorry to hear that you were feeling the rush ...it is something that we really hate it but unfortunately we have no chance to do in a different way because the bus time is not helping our staff members that need to be home for 9pm (curfew time for now )...we are just hoping that all of this will change after the 11th of April but we will see.We always recommend our guests (specially with large group like yours ) to come early to avoid as much we can the stress...thanks again for your coming and we looking forward to see you again soon

Our dinner at Il Tempio did not live up to our expectations. I will first however, mention the good points. The location is beautiful and the drinks served, including wine and cocktails, were quite good. Unfortunately, the bad far outweighs this. Firstly, it took 20 mins from seeing our menus to even hearing from a server (which we had to flag down) to take our order. At this point, we ordered both drinks and food at once, which they did not seem too pleased by. It then took another 20 minutes for our drinks and appetizers to arrive. In terms of food, I had the Barracuda Tartare, which was underwhelming as it was mostly chopped vegetables and maybe 15% fish. For 48 dollars I expected better. Our mains were good, but nothing to write home about. The margarita Pizza was kind of bland and had an unusually small amount of basil. In addition, getting a top up of wine with dinner was difficult. With wait staff too busy to help, I resorted to walking to the bar and ordering one from the bartender himself. It is worth nothing the bartender is very good and has some great recommendations for wine pairings. Finally, when it came time to head out, the waitress stacked other people’s dirty cutlery on top of the food we had asked to take home. We then had to explain why this was a problem, and kept the food at our table. After this debacle, it then took a couple of attempts to get the bill, which, as it turns out, was not paid at the table but at the cash. Overall, I found this experience to be shambolic and a pity given the potential this place has. Il Tempio could definitely benefit from one or two more wait staff or even better training of their existing employees.

This was our favourite restaurant without a doubt. We booked on line and received a reminder of our reservation. Taken to our table overlooking the beach with torches on the beachfront. Food was superb. I had lasagne which is not a meal I usually have and was so glad I did. 3 pieces of lasagne on the plate looked good and tasted divine - you could taste the herbs and tomatoes. Husband had as a starer calamari and the portion was huge. His Italian sausage melted in the mouth. We just kept going mmmm, mmmm at each mouthful. We had 3 courses each, a drinks before the meal, bottle of wine and limoncello each for 394 B$. Given what we paid for lesser quality meals this was outstandingly good. Loved this place and disappointed we found it on our next to last night. Will definitely return

If you are looking for good Italian food on the island, you must try Il Tempio. The restaurant was just a walk down the beach from our villa and we ended up eating their three times in our two week stay. Happy hour highlights free nibbles created by the chef and the pizza (from their new wood fired oven imported from Italy) is delicious! Our first dinner also included an unexpected treat - a young hawksbill turtle came up to lay her eggs right on their beach! The staff quietly moved the chairs on the sand near her and we just watched our own nature channel from our table. Pure magic!

We stayed next door to this restaurant and ended up eating here twice. The happy hour is a great deal. The drinks are tasty and you cannot beat feet in the sand with the sunsetting drinking a cocktail. Once we were done with happy hour, we moved inside (the restaurant is all open so it is not closed in). The appetizers are great as are the pasta dishes. The pasta is very light - never felt overly filling. Overall, it's a very fun spot to eat. Seemed like lots of regulars come in which is a good sign if people keep coming back. Great place in Fitts Village

The score for this review is awarded for this evenings visit alone. We’ve been to the restaurant on numerous occasions in the ten years we’ve been visiting Barbados. This week, we had lunch which was nice. Pizza and salad were good and a fantastic spot by the beach. My issue here is the attitude from the female owner. We arrived once at 8pm (after a long flight and we’re staying next door) to be told they couldn’t serve us anything to eat…anything? This evening however, I arrived at 7.30pm to order garlic bread (I tried to telephone to enquire first, no answer). Again staying next door and would like the addition to our home-cooked meal. The lady laughed in my face and told me they were far too busy (three or so small tables in the restaurant and one person at the bar). Explaining the “busy” situation in a more helpful way would have been more suitable, than to be so rude to a customer. I suggested returning at 8pm and was told that would be ok. When I came back, I wasn’t spoken to by the lady (but to be fair, she was saying goodbye to some other guests), I paid and was given the garlic bread. For $20bds you can see what I received (4 tiny slices roughly 10cmx1cm of a frozen-style baguette)…no words. As mentioned Il Tiempo is in a fantastic location, the food is (generally) good but I can’t offer any more than a 1/5 for the attitude of the owner. We would definitely enjoy your spot more regularly on our visits if we weren’t to be subjected to the sheer rudeness of one member of staff.

Dear reviewer your score and your words are an offense for all our staff members that working hard every day to make happy our customers Your disappointment because you did’nt get a table (that you did’not reserve ) cannot became a punishment for our business and we cannot accept your complains that are without any grounds. During the high season it is recommended a reservation that can be easily done online . Further more the mention of the take away of 1 garlic bread ( 7 US) is mere trifles because that was the only thing you got and we were very helpful to accept your order

My husband's surname is Fitt so a visit to a restaurant in Fitt's Village, St James near the apartment where we were staying was inevitable. We liked Tempio so much we returned for a second visit, without having made a reservation and was found a table literally on the beach for our second dinner, even though we had vowed to try as many different restaurants in our 12 night stay as possible. The service was by the excellent staff and two members of the Italian family who have owned and run the restaurant for some time, and was friendly and good. The food contained a couple of house specials which were just terrific and there was a nice gentle buzz about the place, as well as a car park outside and a stunning view of the sunset.
