We stumbled across a sign for this restaurant one lunchtime and decided to go with it. First impressions were mixed as the outside area hasn't actually been finished, but looking at Trip Advisor, they've only been open a week or so, so can be forgiven! The restaurant was bustling but we were seated in the conservatory area very quickly -... More

Friday evening sampled fish and chip takeaway and Saturday the restuarant. Cannot fault either. Excellent fish and chips with quick polite service and the shop was busy. The restuarant staff were welcoming, attentive and knew what they were doing. The food was served quickly and of superb quality. Steaks cooked to perfection. Will be back. All in all and excellent... A surprise to find a fish and chip shop when we were looking at the restaurant which was not open at the time. The fish supper was excellent dry and very tasty. Price was also very reasonable for a quality service.

Took three quarters of an hour to make an open sandwich and a panini. Waitresses had not been trained. My lunch companion who had booked a table was left standing at the door while a table for someone else was being laid. The change from the bill was put straight down on the table - not on a plate. The... More

Stopped here by chance today and definitely recommend a visit. Friendly welcome - moving tables to accommodate our request to sit at the window where there is a lovely countryside view. Nice menu - we had fish and chips and fishcake - both very good -freshly cooked and large portions! We were lucky to get a table without reservation -... More

We initially set off on our journey to eat at the restaurant but as the website says it opens at one time, the sign outside says something different & when we asked in the Chip Shop they advised something different again we decided against it, like many others arriving & leaving - not best practice having 3 different times when... When the Cowshed opened their chip shop takeaway the quality was outstanding. It is almost unbelievable the extent to which it has deteriorated in such a short space of time. The miserable offering we bought (and didn't finish) tonight will be the last we ever buy.

Best fish cakes and chips that I have ever had! It's rare that I finish all my finish and chips but here I did... Enjoyed having space to eat them outside in a nice setting.

Having been to The Cowshed before and enjoying it a lot, we were keen to return. Although it was a Saturday, the restaurant was not full so we expected a trouble free and pleasant evening. However, the food and the service were disappointing from the start. Once we were shown to our table and an initial drinks order taken we... More

I am coeliac and was so disappointed to read the menu here with no gluten free options😞 especially when it says on web page there are gluten free options! I read the allergens list and think I could have one thing off menu and it was a starter. Chef ended up making me chicken with potatoes and veg with a... More

Description
The Cowshed is a family owned and managed business. Our philosophy is straightforward: "choose local seasonal ingredients carefully and cook them as simply as possible. Whenever possible we source local ingredients, thus supporting the Aberdeenshire community and providing a showcase for quality, fresh and seasonal Scottish produce. Since opening in 2010, the Cowshed has changed its style of food and service. We now offer a larger and simpler food menu which includes a mix of customer favourites, traditional Scottish dishes and daily specials, sandwiches, paninis, coffee/tea, cakes and bakes. Something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day. As a proud member of the Scotch Beef Club, we serve Scotch Beef PGI. With traceability and unique assurance which begins on the farm of birth, Scotch Beef is high on quality and high on taste.
