After spending the whole day birding around Aberdeen we decided to call in to the Cowshed in Banchory for our evening meal. The place is in an excellent location on the outskirts of the village with good views over the surrounding countryside. The service was cheerful and professional. The menu selection is fairly small but the food is excellent, well... More

Having just opened a fish and chips take out, the Cow Shed was recommended to us. They have a wonderful outside area where you can sit and enjoy your take out food. The huge overhead umbrella is kitted out with heaters for cooler evenings and shelter from the rain. Pricing was similar to other fish and chips outlets. The fish... More

We turned up hoping for an evening meal only to find the main restaurant closed - it's only open on some evenings, not all week. Instead, we made use of their well-stocked fish-and-chips bar. Prices were nearly double what we'd pay in our local equivalent, but the food was also of a much higher quality, and we definitely enjoyed what... More

Myself and fellow bikers do a regular chippy run and decided to try this place out. We were not disappointed , service excellent and food great also somewhere outside to sit and eat it . Will most definitely be back 😉 A ++++

It is not clear to me just what clientele this place is aiming at. It has, overall, an upmarket look about it and yet it combines a fish and chip shop within the premises. The main restaurant area is very smart, roomy, and with a conservatory-type area with pleasant outlooks over the surrounding agricultural and forestry land. An attractive and... More

Visited the new fish and chip section numerous times now since it opened recently as a side element to the restaurant Without doubt this is the best fish and chips in the area. .

y first ever revue on Tripadvisor was the Cow Shed and I expressed my disappointment. We returned again last Saturday for the first time since then and it is now 10 times better. More interesting menu, food well sourced and beautifully cooked. Great staff Can't wait to return

We visited The CowShed for Sunday lunch with my sister. We all had the roast Sirloin of beef and it just melted in our mouths it was so tender. It tasted so delicious too. They kindly made a gluten free option of gravy for me which was not asked for but was very welcome. Dessert followed and we could not... More

There are some places you walk into and you know at once that this is something special and so it was the other day when we walked into the Cowshed, Banchory for lunch - clean, no expense spared, bright, welcoming staff, the view from beyond the panoramic windows opening out on to a colourful vista of ripening wheat fields to... Description
The Cowshed is a family owned and managed business. Our philosophy is straightforward: "choose local seasonal ingredients carefully and cook them as simply as possible. Whenever possible we source local ingredients, thus supporting the Aberdeenshire community and providing a showcase for quality, fresh and seasonal Scottish produce. Since opening in 2010, the Cowshed has changed its style of food and service. We now offer a larger and simpler food menu which includes a mix of customer favourites, traditional Scottish dishes and daily specials, sandwiches, paninis, coffee/tea, cakes and bakes. Something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day. As a proud member of the Scotch Beef Club, we serve Scotch Beef PGI. With traceability and unique assurance which begins on the farm of birth, Scotch Beef is high on quality and high on taste.
