Meet up with a group of friend for our annual post-New Year Sunday lunch. First-time visit for some of us. I was pleasantly surprised by the modern and spacious interior. The welcome was warm and friendly with all our tables attended to quickly. Food (roasted beef) was reasonable good and average. Enjoyable Sunday lunch but was slightly let down by... More

Very surprised to read a few recent critical reviews as that most certainly has not been our experience on several visits - lunch & dinner. Nice relaxed environment with comprehensive menus. Food well prepared & presented by friendly staff and despite being a bit out of Banchory it can be busy at lunchtimes so best to book a table to... More

Tucked away in Banchory, a lovely restaurant. Adequate parking. has a takeaway fish and chip shop at the side. The food is lovely. I had the game pie. It was delicious and very good value. Ales were excellent. Service was spot on! Very helpful staff. Would definitely go again. Definitely try the chips....fried in beef dripping! Yum!!

We called this evening to order take-away food. This goes to a voicemail where you select option 2 for take-away (we did). A young lady then answered saying, 'hello', no identification or welcome. We then asked to pre-order food for us to collect and were told, 'you can't do that at weekends', we then asked if the take-away was busy... More

Had lunch here recently, food was delicious, plates for main course cleared but no offer of dessert or coffee! Eventually asked for bill as they obviously wanted to clear up. This was a shame as staff had been very pleasant.

Went to the Cowshed for a corporate night out to learn how to cook our food and then eat it. It was a great experience - the chefs were excellent instructors and the food was amazingly tasty. Everyone had a great night out doing things they were not aware they could do!!

We visited with friends on the 30th December. Apart from a couple of others tables we were the only ones there and the last to leave. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The food was good. We had a mix of starters ranging from prawn cocktail to chicken liver pate. All plates were cleared. For main most of us... More

If you want the best fish and chips in the area head to this great place. Chips are crisp, nor greasy and the fish in Panton crumb just a bit different from the normal battered fish. You will not be disappointed.

Description
The Cowshed is a family owned and managed business. Our philosophy is straightforward: "choose local seasonal ingredients carefully and cook them as simply as possible. Whenever possible we source local ingredients, thus supporting the Aberdeenshire community and providing a showcase for quality, fresh and seasonal Scottish produce. Since opening in 2010, the Cowshed has changed its style of food and service. We now offer a larger and simpler food menu which includes a mix of customer favourites, traditional Scottish dishes and daily specials, sandwiches, paninis, coffee/tea, cakes and bakes. Something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day. As a proud member of the Scotch Beef Club, we serve Scotch Beef PGI. With traceability and unique assurance which begins on the farm of birth, Scotch Beef is high on quality and high on taste.
