Visited this pub in a fantastic location, Beautiful countryside and lovely walks. Stopped in for a bite to eat and food was fantastic, all cooked fresh, staff were very friendly and very efficient. Couldn't fault the place. Would definitely go back.

Long waits to be served food and drinks. Food nothing special, won't go again. Good views though and a handy position if you're out for a walk.

Super place. Location second to none on the side of a reservoir, where you can sit outside and just enjoy being in the countryside. Rear beer garden has great views of tegsnose and a reasonable sunset. Beer is always well-kept. Always. Menu is interesting - there's always something that appeals, and food is to a very high standard whilst still... More

What a fabulous lunch ! I ordered the goats cheese Wellington ! Wow it was amazing , my husband ordered the the steak and ale pie. Delicious ! But the goats cheese pie was by far the winner. Can't wait to come back .

We've visited many times as a family after walking in Macclesfield forest. The beer garden is very very tired and hardly changed in the last 3 or 4 years. The bar area is cramped but that would not be a problem if the people serving kept to order and didn't serve "regulars" ahead of their turn. When we had the... More

Situated in Macclesfield Forest the Leather's Smithy has a great and varied menu. The fish is excellent as is the steak and Kidney Pie with Chips of course. The Billberry or Whinberry, Winberry, Windberry, wimberry crumble is delicious. They get the berries from Marple :) Nice to have a lovely walk bt the reservoir to walk off the pud.

Warm summer evening. Natural to go out in the TR6 for a run into Macclesfield Forest. Ended up at the Leathers Smithy for an evening meal. A really excellent meal of whitebait and calves liver. Friendly and efficient service too. Excellent Leathers Smithy beer as well. All this with wonderful views of the countryside from the window. What could be... More

This is a traditional pub in a lovely waterside setting on the edge of Macclesfield forest. Excellent food is served lunchtime and evening. A standard menu is supplemented by a daily "blackboard" of "specials" which features the best of local produce. The pub have a range of traditional ales including guest beers. In the winter real fires warm the stone floored bar area as well as the more formal dining area of the pub. Very popular and booking is essential at weekends. As residents of the area we aware of what the competition has to offer and feel that Leather's Smithy provides excellent food of consistent quality at a very fair price.
