I have driven past this Inn more times than I can remember when visiting MGH through work. After spending the day out in Bakewell and Matlock, the decision was to have a meal on the way home. This little Inn didn't disappoint. My starter which was the olives and dipping bread would've fed 3 people and was more like a... More

My friend took me for lunch here last week. I love how we were able to bring my friends little dog along as it is a dog friendly pub/restaurant. We shared the Butchers Board. It was really nice with mini Cumberland sausages, duck, paté, bread, dip, black pudding, cured meat, pickles. There was lots on there would of fed more... More

Visited on a sunny Bank Holiday when it was very busy so could understand the slow bar service. The biggest disappointment was the food which was average at best and severely overpriced. On a positive, the beer garden was a nice place to have a drink.

I came with my family and had to say it wasn't a great experience. First of all we were waiting ages for our food, for anyone to come over to take our plates or to even ask about drinks etc even though it wasn't particularly busy. Our food was okay. The beef was a slither and cold not worth the... More

Pub was very busy just enough to create a good atmosphere, layout of dining area is informal but comfortable. Very Good menu of mainly British food and excellent choice of beers, wines and spirits. There was a service problem with one of our meals which was dealt with swiftly and with satisfaction. Would definitely go back, maybe on a nice... More

We called in today on our way back from Stockport for a quick bite to eat and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food very tasty and fresh. We had sandwiches with fries which were excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We will be going back

We both really enjoyed our dinner at the Windmill. It was a beautiful sunny evening so we were able to sit in the gardens which have lots of space and beautiful scenery. I had the chicken skillet with balsamic reduction, thyme potatoes and a mozzarella and tomato salad..a really summery dish and it was delicious. My husband had a small... More

I ordered fish and chips the crushed peas were cold the batter on the fish thick with grease and soggy not crispy at all. Partners lamb burger was just ok at best with soggy onion rings to accompany it. The greasy French fries completed our dishes. Kids meal was ok good value at least. The location is the only saving... What a gorgeous pub! Looks-wise; the place is really lovely outside and in. It is decorated cosy, comfy and quirky. Even the toilets!!! Staff-wise; great! We were made to feel so welcome the moment we walked in. We were given a choice to sit, provided with a varied menu and offered drinks straight away. Food was amazing! The standard steak... More

We selected this pub from recommendations which were, for the most part accurate, in that the food was good. My colleague and I chose the tempura prawn and vegetables to start which was certainly ample (so glad we shared) which came with a great chilli sauce and then I opted for the fillet of sea bass, with saffron potatoes, asparagus...
