This lovely restaurant did not disappoint and all 10 of us had only smiles and full tummies at the end. The menu is varied and good value for the quality of the food. For years it was busy and you couldn't get in for trying, so I booked 3 months before to make sure. We celebrated our daughter's 18th upstairs... More

This was our first meal at cafe essence and it definitely won't be the last. Not going to digress just state that the food is amazing, fresh tastes, food cooked perfectly, lovely intimate restaurant with fantastic friendly staff. Tried the steak with lobster thermador which was excellent. My partner had rack of lamb, with trio of smoked fish to start.... More

I have been here twice and on both occasions could not fault the food or the service. It is bring your own wine and the waiter was good enough to wait for our order till I rushed out to Asda to pick up a few bottles of wine. We were celebrating a birthday so handed the cake into the kitchen... More

My husband and I wanted to eat early one evening and chose Cafe Essence. We had a table in the corner by the window. Our orders were taken promptly and the food arrived soon after...mouthwateringly good! There was a super choice of dishes and our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. As the restaurant allows you to bring your own... More

A really great restaurant especially if you are a fish lover. I had a lovely monkfish dish with a Portavogie prawn risotto and it was to die for . Both starter and main were generous portions so I didn't have a desert. However my husband had the home made chocolate cake which was also delicious. We both thoroughly enjoyed the... More

There was a time when you would need to book a table 2 months or more in advance. Fish is the speciality and is on the specials board in various choices. Lobster in season is served in good portions and there is a good choice of other foods like venison duck steak. The blackened monkfish on a bed of risotto... More

Food was ok but the prices let it down, I shall give it a miss the next time. This restaurant must think its on the Lisburn road in Belfast to charge the prices they do.

My husband and I had a meal recently on a Saturday evening, the service was terrific and the meals excellent with generous portion size, very good value we chose the 2 courses for £23.00, although there were other options available, can't wait to return.
