We phoned in advance to collect a takeaway from Bay of Bengal. The food was ready on arrival. We ordered poppadoms/ yoghurt/onion salad which were lovely. However, my main course was disappointing. I ordered korahi chicken which had a rather thin sauce which lacked some flavour, the chicken in the dish was junks of tandoori chicken. If I had wanted a tandoori chicken dish I would have ordered one. Korahi should be a thick sauce with ginger as a key flavour but this lacked flavour. We also ordered garlic naan (which costs more) but unpacked a plain naan which was flavourless and a bit soggy. My partners main course was lamb rogan Josh which also lacked flavour. Cash payments only so be sure to have cash! Maybe dining in would bring a better experience.

We ordered a takeaway on a busy Saturday night so expected a delay in preparing our food which we accepted. No issues with our food which was enjoyed by all.
The reason for me giving 3 stars only is that cash is the only payment method which meant we had to find the cashpoint in town which luckily was working.

We ate from The Bay Of Bengal twice, the second time because it was our only option (elsewhere fully booked or closed because it was later in the evening).
The food was tasty enough but lacked the chilli warmth that you’d expect so we thought that they were catering to an older, plainer palate (which in fairness is probably a key customer base for them year round). Service was pleasant and efficient. They are family friendly. Eating here was relatively expensive compared to our usual takeaways (circa 25% more) but that applies to Aberdovey in general. Some of the cost can be offset by bringing your own alcohol because they are unlicensed. If you’ve not been to the supermarket, The Britannia pub next door is geared up to help in this respect. Their hours end before pub closing time so this isn’t a post pub eatery. It is a cash only establishment, unusual in this day and age. You can draw your own conclusions as to why this might be so…
We’d eat from here again if we return to Aberdovey, knowing the above.

We ordered from here tonight. I can’t fault the woman on the telephone she was lovely.
We thought the prices were quite high so we were expecting a feast!! We were wrong!! we had a handful of chips for £3.50!! Our curries were £9.99 each and had around six pieces of chicken in with ALOT of sauce, that’s over a pound per piece of chicken!!!
To top it off my partner found a bit of wire in his onion bhaji!!!
Not good!! In total this cost £42 for three people who are still VERY hungry!!!

Ordered lamb rogan josh which was all fatty and not able to eat complained and sent back but still expected to pay. The special did not contain any king prawns and was reduced by £1. When I asked to speak to the chef it turned out there was no chef and food was cooked by waiting staff.
Please avoid this place.

The take away food was warm-ish and the naan breads were cold.
The meat dishes were nearly meat-free given how little meat was actually in them.
The sauces were inferior to what you can get from a jar in the supermarket.
Added to the above, they only accept cash (!) and I was short-changed! It was telling how quickly they corrected it without me even saying how much was missing!
I’ll cook my own next time for a fraction of the cost!

Been using Bay of Bengal since April this year, for one if not two take away meals per week. The food is fantastic, the welcome and whole customer experience is first class.
I am quite choosy when it comes to curry's so its great to have found such a gem of a place which is also quite close by for our weekly take away.
Big thanks to the entire team, you always make customers feel special with your welcome, no matter how busy you are.

We had a really friendly welcome at this little restaurant. Menu was not as extensive as typical Indian Restaurant, but everything we had was excellent - I’d really pick out the vegetable bhaji as a stand out side dish. You must bring your own alcoholic drinks if required and it’s cash only. Limited range of soft drinks too (no sugar free option for the diabetic in our family).

The food was very tasty and so good we ended up having a take away both nights of our stay in Aberdovey! I would highly recommend the Garlic chilli chicken, very spicy and delicious. They also provided plastic cutlery for take outs. Thanks Bay of Bengal, we will be back!

We have eaten in and taken away on many occasions, every time we have received exceptional food. Fresh, tasty and authentic, unlike some Indian food take aways. The Bengal Special is a favourite. We look forward to coming to Aberdovey to taste the best Indian food around.
Sa’id, the owner is so friendly, and deserves to receive our top rating. We have never been disappointed.

We visited on a weekday evening. The restaurant was dead but the phone didn’t stop ringing and plenty of people coming in for a takeaway. One member of staff was working which meant that we waited more than enough time for our order to be taken. When the food came it was ok you can’t go wrong with chicken tikka masala ( for the kids) My husband had ordered a naga chicken tikka which was made spicy by adding copious amounts of tubby toms sauce (confirmed by waiter) leaving it so hot it was inedible. He likes hot food and naga is his go too, but this was ridiculously hot even for him. The bill was extortionate despite us bringing our own drinks and the fact that it is cash only is very suspicious!!

We went here about 7pm on Sunday night and had a delicious meal of king prawn bhuna and king prawn dhansak. The meals were cooked to absolute perfection! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to any curry enthusiast.

Placed our first order for our evening meal with these guys, and was not disappointed. My particular choice was: Chicken Tikka Bhuna Vindaloo, it was epic, cooked to perfection and was thoroughly enjoyed. Very professional, great customer service was given, even though the staff were very busy. Needless to say, this restaurant will be our first choice from now on. 11/10 to the team who served me, not forgetting the kitchen team too.
Many thanks

Exceptional, we were with great company and that was equally matched with the quality of service and food. My wife had the sea bass and thought it amazing but all four dishes were fabulous and good portion size. All too often in Indian restaurants you feel as if you're being rushed so they can get the next 'bums on seats' but not here. The table service was every bit as good as the food and they were happy to chat about Wales, India and other experiences, made it a perfect evening. Thank you
BoB, Tywyn, we will be back

Very limited menu and hardly anything available from the original menu for some reason. Didn't send 3 nans only 2. We ordered chicken tika masala x3 from the menu as whatever we asked for they didn't have!! We thought we were eating korma's as there wasn't any heat from the meal. Sauce was very watery and hardly any taste. Chicken hadn't alot of taste so all in all it was very disappointing. Not as nice as a aldi microwave curry. £50 later and feeling what a waste!! 😡
