Came here for an evening meal to celebrate our anniversary. The retardant followed all the appropriate COVID protocols, so we felt safe dinning there. The service was excellent, the two waitresses were friendly, caring, efficient. The menu offered good choice plus the specials board and...there was a good atmosphere in the restaurant which helped make green evening enjoyable. We can recommend everything we had, scallops, ham hock, sea bass, liver & bacon, crime brûlée. We are staying in Frinton for a couple of months, so will be returning. Well done we had a great evening,More

We had lunch here on a Wednesday in early November having booked the night before. It was quite busy and we wanted to sit outside, so it ended up being a late lunch as there wasn't much availability. It was the last day before the...second lockdown so the menu choices were quite limited as sensibly they had been running down their stocks of ingredients, but it wasn't a problem for us. We both had the steak pie with chips, followed by sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake. It was all very good. The staff were friendly but the service was a bit slow by the time we wanted to leave even though the place was almost empty by then. We'd happily eat here again if in the area.More

Great place to eat! The roast looked delicious but I would have liked a veggie roast, which wasn’t available. The chocolate sponge (chocolate melt in the middle type) was absolutely delicious. Always tasty food here!

3 of us had lunch here last week and it lived up to all expections. It wast very clean with staff in masks. Very friendly welcome and we chose our own table so felt comfortable. I had the steak pie and it was outstanding, really...full of flavoursome, non fat beef, and the crust was delicious. Chips superb and served in a warmed container! Seriously filling. We also had a vegarian meal and lamb kebab, both delicious. We couldn't try the desserts as we were too full up.More

We visited the restaurant in July and had a lovely meal, for which I left a very good review. We returned tonight and didn’t get to eat anything. When I booked about 2 weeks ago I was told there would be 2 sittings, one at...6.30 and one at 8.15. We went for 6.30. When we arrived at 6.25, after some discussion between the waitress and manager we were shown to a very cramped table by the toilet door. When we asked for a different table we were told that wasn’t possible because people had been arriving since 5.45 and so all the other tables were full. I explained that my booking had been made some time ago and that we couldn’t eat at that table as we could actually smell the toilets we were so close. Although the manager was apologetic she offered us no alternative but to leave and find somewhere else to eat.More

Against all the COVID odds we had a lively evening here with excellent 5+* service, charming, polite and helpful, even immediate. The food was the best we have had here, delicious. Wine and beer similarly good. I had the French Sauvignon, just the right amount...of chill, followed by the Austrian Veltliner with a nice almondy finish. Adnams Southwold was as good as always, the first bottle not quite cold enough, the second . . . perfect. We had fishy starters and mains, all very good and better than the recently visited Pier at Harwich. The finishing touch was Affogato with Disaronno. We often have Affogato, but not with Disaronno and it was . . . heavenly. A perfect finish. Our hats are off to this restaurant for making such a good go of even more restrictions. Here's to you restriction mongers . . . it didn't spoil our evening! Thanks to Zsa zsa and the staff, not least the chef.More

A lovely stylish venue. The service was excellent and COVID rules followed without any drop in friendliness. Food was high quality and good size portions. Highly recommended.

We had lunch at the Avenue Bistro having never been before. The food was excellent as was the service. My husband and I are both foodies and regard the meal there as one is the best we’ve had recently. It’s popular and rightly so, so...make sure you book.More

Doesn’t chime in with my experience. Have always found food excellent and service friendly and attentive. As a former restaurateur I would never respond to reviews. Best to have conversations with customers while they are on... More
