The food here is undoubtedly good, but the "welcome" on arrival is seriously off-putting. We were sat in the bar, rather than the restaurant, with quite loud music playing. We were told that we all had to eat from a £38 set menu - fair enough, it was Mother's Day, but there was nothing to that effect on the website... More

Hello John, thank you for your review. The bar area was set the same as the restaurant on mothers day because of how busy it was there is no way we could have got everyone over the other side so i don't think you missed out on much, John I'm sorry but i have to just say for people reading... More

A hidden gem, we found The Snail via Groupon and glad we did - the food was delicious and the chef very flexible as even though I'm a vegetarian I don't like mushrooms so he created a different main course which was perfect! Our 6 course tasting menu had very generous portion sizes so make sure you go hungry so... More

It is many years since we last ate at The Snail and we went on a Groupon 6 Course Taster deal. We chose to go at lunch time and given its location we knew it would be pretty quiet. However, the meal was excellent - perfect portions - and all cooked to the highest standards. Don't be put off by... More

Went with friends, met in the bar. Which looked like someone's front room. Pint of curious brew to start is always a winner. Restaurant was well lit and presented. Had a voucher for the 6 course taster menu. Each course was beautifully presented. My favourite course was the beef and oxtail fagot. Friends and wife really enjoyed the place. Would... More

£12 for a three course lunch seemed too good to be true, but after we returned to the Snail after a long absence we were delighted to find excellent food at a super price. Food was well presented, carefully cooked and pleasantly served. Can't wait to try the tasting menu!

We returned to The Snail at Stone Street last week after a recommendation from a friend. We had a very nice 3-course lunch for £12 each - you really couldn't beat it for value. A small lunch time menu but really something for everyone. Beautifully prepared and presented and delicious. Well done! We shall be returning soon.

We did the Groupon 6 taster menu for two, and were very pleased. There was a 1st course of home baked bread with dips of home made pesto, butter and balsamic, this was followed by beetroot carpaccio with goats cheese. Next was a very cheesey soufflé, which was delicious. A palate cleanser of lemon sorbet, followed by the main course... More

We called in to The Snail whilst out for a drive. I would say it's predominantly a restaurant with a small bar area. We only had drinks but food smelt amazing and menu's looked good. Very friendly staff only downside it was very cold. Will definitely go back in summer.

We did the Groupon 6-course taster menu for four. Didn't know what to expect for a very cheap deal but we were pleasantly surprised. Charming service, a really well balanced, interesting, well presented, seasonal menu. Would never have come across it without the groupon voucher which we did just to try something new, but really pleased we did. Can see... More
