We came in and to the left was a small bar area, more like an old style snug actually, though im not criticisng that.about 3 other parties came... More

Only stayed 1 night but had a lovely evening meal, peaceful and very cosy room and a gorgeous breakfast. Pickering offers a good variety of shops and visitor attractions and I'd highly recommend the chocolate shop!!

We visited for lunch a few years ago and were so impressed with the warm welcome, food and service that when in Pickering visiting friends again we decided to pay another visit for a quick drink mid afternoon. The place was empty and although the barmaid saw us waiting to be served at the bar she carried on clearing tables... More

A very average establishment. First impressions were not overly good, a member of staff did not know where the toilets were regardless if it's their first day or not. We had to physically go find someone to order our drinks as no one was around, 10minutes later when the drinks finally arrived one was wrong, one was cold and one... More

We went in for lunch one day ,the staff were friendly and helpful even though the rooms could do with a bit of an up date . The meals we had were plentiful and nicely presented .a bit pricey compared with some places but enjoyable

Having visited this place a couple of years ago, we had few meals, pet friendly great for the dogs, beer was great, plus service, however going back this week we went in for lunch with our dog, we got two BLT SANDWICHES, they were fine, nothing to shout about, ie: ketchup was home made but really was like tinned soup,... We were recommended this establishment by a friend who had visited previously and not knowing the area we decided to take up their advice. We arrived at about 1.30pm for lunch.A young man pounced almost as soon as we put a foot in the door ' Are you eating' he asked. We said yes but had not seen the menu... More

Stopped here on Sunday 5th June after a visit to Flamingoland. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My son asked for a kids menu and was told he could have a smaller portion of a Sunday dinner - we guessed then that we were onto a winner. Why can't more places do small versions of proper food rather than... More

The kitchen at the White Swan is focused on doing very little to excellent local ingredients with very rarely more than three flavours on a plate. We make just about everything from scratch in cluding the ketchup and we charge more for it than we would need to if everything came out of a freezer via a microwave. If you are looking for prissy and plastic fine dining then don't expect that here. If you are looking for mountains of cheap food and you don't care where it came from then there are better places to get it.However if you love proper food then I also promise you service from people who are genuinely pleased to be working in our lovely Inn. The AA deems our food good enough for 2 rosettes - and that is without a single smear, smudge or froth in sight. At the other end of the scale, we don't do wrapped butter portions or packets of sauce either (or piped musak). If you want real food in a relaxed experience with great service and a happy atmosphere then come on down. If you want something else - then don't say I didn't warn you.Victor Buchanan - Owner
