We visited on the 17th August. We had seen a sign advertising a quaint little 1940's tea room. Our gaffer decided that we should head back there later for afternoon tea. When we arrived we were greeted by a gentleman at the bar who on first impressions appears fairly polite.we took a seat at one of the tables. We were... More

Lovely quaint hotel, staff cannot do enough to help you. Fab breakfasts too. Location is excellent, being a few steps from all the hubbub of the town.

We had a fabulous stay, really friendly, clean and really good food. Very near to the beach and town centre. Staff and management second to none. Will be back.

You could easily walk past this place and dismiss it as a daytime tea room but underneath there is a quaint restaurant serving excellent food, good wine and local beers. Service The service here was good with a decent amount of time between courses Food We enjoyed chicken pate and baked Brie in Parma ham for starters both of which... More

This was our first visit to the 1940s style tea rooms only went in for coffee but we were tempted by the afternoon tea and we weren't let down £15 for 2 people and it was wonderful lovely sandwiches and amazing cakes the weren't skimped on far to much for me to eat so they were put in a bag... called in here last month for a light lunch, was attracted by it's 1940s themed café. Apart from myself the place was deserted, no customers or staff. Waited several minutes, after ringing the bell a young man appeared, I enquired as to the soup of the day and he replied that he didn't know so after a pause I suggested... More

I will respond to this reveiw in the manner it was written, the soup in a "small wholemeal loaf with the centre scooped out " is actually known as a BREAD BOWL, and they have proved very popular, the french onion soup which has not been on the menu for 7-8 weeks also sold quite well and some guests returned... We stayed one night and booked last minute so had probably the smallest room. Room 2 - twin. Though compact the room was very clean, comfortable and had everything you need for a nights stay. Breakfast was a little slow, we were there for an hour but it was tasty and we were in no rush. Good value and would... More

We would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review and we are glad you enjoyed you stay. Breakfast does take a little longer than some establishments as everything is cooked fresh to order, but most people are quite happy to relax as you were. More

This was my second visit to this establishment, this time for afternoon tea. The decor in the tearoom (which was the restaurant when I last visited) has a war time theme with small items of memorabilia around the room and music from that era playing (gently) in the background, the china used is also remeniscient of that time. There was... More

We went here by mistake, going through the wrong door, as we wanted the tea room. The lunch was OK, nothing particularly to recommend it though. Service was incredibly slow. which as we were the only one there, for most of the time, is not good. Next time, I will get the right door!

We would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review, we are sorry that things didn't quite go as you would have liked, at the time you came, we had just moved the tearoom and restaurant around, so we hope when you come again you will find the tearoom first time. More
