Booked in here for an evening meal whilst in the area. Between us all we had scallops, hake and the Devon crab. All very well cooked/prepared. The service was good and the wine was well chilled. Would definately recommend a visit.

Stumbled across Take Thyme on a slightly drizzly lunchtime in Ilfracombe. Finding the restaurant turned a pleasant day trip into the highlight of a short break in North Devon. The welcome was friendly and genuine and the food was delicious. My husband and I both opted for two fillets of mackerel which came with salad and crusty bread (although there... More

Visited here on Friday for lunch. Requested Scallops (which were off menu but they very kindly accommodated request). They were the nicest scallops I have eaten served with Lime, Chilli and Coriander. This was followed by Lemon Sole in a Lemon and Thyme butter which was divine. If you want well cooked fish, served simply where the fish is the... More

Last evening in Ilfracombe spent here, lovely food and services. I had mussels and the wife had sea bass. Both were delicious. Small restaurant but great service would visit again.

The premises are small but Tara and her staff create a welcoming atmosphere where they serve a reasonably-sized menu of lovely fresh fish/seafood. My husband was served 3 scallops too but it was ordered as a starter and he said it was so full of delicate flavours he was satisfied. He proclaimed the mussels for his main had the tastiest... I had scallops which were lovely but only three tiny scallops with dry bread and salad with no dressing. My wife had mackerel which was over cooked again, dry bread and salad with no dressing. Seafood chowder was ok but not worth £14. My John Dory was very nice but again not worth £16.00. Wine was nice but again £16.00... More

When we called to reserve a table the staff kindly reserved two portions of mussels for us. The wine was excellent and reasonably priced at £15 for a bottle of sauvignon blanc. We also had elderflower and prosecco cocktails which were a delight. The battered mushrooms to start were huge sliced mushrooms, the best either of us had ever eaten.... More

We recently heard that Take Thyme were opening for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays, and could not wait to try it. We went today and it did not disappoint. The lunch menu is packed with local fresh fish and lots of seafood. We had the Devon crab claws with salad and crusty bread to start and they were huge and... More

This fish restaurant has a very friendly atmosphere with fabulous service. We phoned ahead as Mr J is gluten free & the owner went the extra mile to ensure she had some GF bread in which was really nice. We had scallops on the first night & they are some of the best we've ever tasted. The Dressed crab ,... More

We went last Tuesday night expecting the town to be quiet and therefore this restaurant. Oh no! It was a nicely busy restaurant we walked into, Tara and her team made us feel very welcome. The local Gins and decent tonic got us off to a great start whilst we had the difficult task of deciding what delicious things we... More
