Take Thyme Fish Restaurant, Ilfracombe.

Went there for my 82nd birthday. The food is delicious, with plenty of choice. When the staff discovered it was my birthday, they really pulled out all the stops. Even waved us off, despite having a full restaurant. Advance booking recommended.

The food was excellent and the service was very good. We did however find the drink prices very expensive.

Stumbled across this little gem right before closing as out with 6 other brothers and cousins. They welcomed us in with open arms and were able to offer a lovely choice of fresh fish @ a great price. Lovely owners and great staff Would defo recommend!

Much disappointment on a visit to this outwardly attractive fish restaurant. Very disorganised with service problems blamed repeatedly on an inexperienced staff assistant. It is the managers job to see that customers paying full price get full satisfaction or respond with some discount. Soup of the day at this fish restaurant? Vegetable! Even clam chowder can be served from frozen... More

We discovered Take Thyme in 2011 and now return there whenever in Ilfracombe. From our first visit we have always been warmly and cheerfully welcomed by the owners John and Tara and now love going back. The fish is superb and the mussels are the best I have tasted. It is worth booking before you go, particularly in the summer... More

Four of us had dinner in Take Thyme on Saturday 26th September. The food was very good. Vegetables that actually taste like what they are meant to be. The fish was excellent and the service very natural and friendly. We have eaten here several times and it has always been a good experience.

After reading glowing reviews we went to Take Thyme and enjoyed a good meal and helpful and cheerful service. All was well until we came to pay the bill. I had the Brixham mussels which were accompanied by three rather paltry slices from a French stick. I politely requested extra bread. When we came to pay the bill I was... More

A genuine restaurant serving delicious fresh dishes. Unpretentious quality produce cooked, prepared & seasoned just to your liking. Friendly & attentive service. A good selection of dishes and wines to suit all palates & reasonably priced. Thoroughly enjoyable dinner & definitely worth booking. Thanks

The staff were excellent, very friendly and chatty without being overbearing. The food was incredible, such a high standard and some of the freshest fish you'll ever taste. The mussels were incredible, I should have had them as a main!!! Would love to go back sometime!
