We called at lunchtime , both of us ordered the meat and potato pie with minted mushy peas and picked red cabbage. Definitely award winning pie. Really good menu choice . There are two sizes for the pie, it's a large portion . Well worth a try

Having lived in the area for a number of years I drop into the Waggon and Horses maybe twice a year in the hope that it has changed for the better......it never fails to disappoint. Drab atmosphere, awful old worn furniture and decor, average food and bar prices that make the Ritz seem cheap. I went in today and the... More

We called here last Wednesday for a late lunch and the place was packed. After a moment or two we managed to get a table. We all ordered meat and potato pies served with mushy peas and picked red cabbage which, I was told by a member of our party, is the traditional Yorkshire way of serving pies. They also... More

My wife and I visited the Waggon and Horses last evening. We were very pleased with our welcome and the service was first class. We chose different main courses from the 'Specials' board and then both had the Bilberry Pie, all first class. All in all a very pleasant evening.

Meal very good but a bit expensive (small fish and chips). Ran out of Bradfield bitter so we had the other bitter . Very nice beer but £4 a pint a bit pricey.

Traditional pub. Not fancy but there is need for glitter here. Homely and cosy. Lovely pies including bilberry pie- which is simply divine. All staff pleasant/ helpful. Our favourite pub in the area. Great location too for walking.

My wife, daughter and I Had a walk round the Langsett Reservoir and finished off with a pint and meal here, the place looks to be in need of a lick of paint but it was clean and the food was very good, previous reports about slow service was not our experience although the pace in general was slow -... Went for a meal ordered gammon which was a great deal cheaper elsewhere, it came relatively quickly but the gammon was inedible in parts and the egg was overcooked. By the time we had finished it was past 9pm and we were made to feel very uncomfortable until we left. I will never go back.
