For many years The Met has been the 'number one' place to chill beside the sea, enjoy the very best coffee ever and have a wonderful dinner with friends - all in an unsurpassed location on the seafront. Sadly, that is no longer the case. The coffee is now just so-so (changed supplier? beans?), the food is very average and... More

I thoroughly agree with the other negative reviews. This used to be one of our favourite restaurants in Ventnor. The quality and presentation of meals is now quite bad. Would still go there just for a drink as it's such a good people watching place. Some staff are friendly but others are totally indifferent to the customers.

We ate here twice in the evening. We found the service excellent, very friendly and helpful. It is annoying that certain items on the menu are "off".The crab tarts were very good. But the cod fillet was bland and overpriced. The fish pie was disappointing, with very little potato on top, and no chunks of fish in it. But we... More

Many items on menu "discontinued", Chose 4 meals , 2 were returned ,risotto soggy lump and pizza stone cold. Replacement arrived 20 mins late and was overcooked. Staff rude when we complained and asked for the 2 meals to be removed from the bill. Tables not cleared and other diners were clearly not impressed. Will never eat there again.

We went to the Met for a late, light lunch, thinking tapas would hit the spot. While all the staf, including the owner were pleasant and recommended us a wonderful wine, we felt that the tapas as presented didn't really do it for us. Perhaps we are spoiled because we have tasted the 'real deal' and NOT in Spain. The... More

Had a lovely evening here with my husband and two children. Very busy atmosphere, great music, sat outside and watched the sun go down with a warm blanket! The food was great, particularly the Thai chicken curry and the staff were very friendly! My children met another couple of children and were treated very well by the staff including giving... More

This meal was absolutely awful in every conceivable way I'm afraid. On arriving we were told that several items were "off", these included the Met's "signature" dish, the Devilled Crab & Prawn Ramekin, the Pickled Herring, and the Chunky Chicken Kebabs. Just as well they were, if they were anything like the rock bottom quality of the other dishes we... More

Went into the met bar in Ventnor isle of wight and the service was terrible. The tables was dirty and the floor was like Velcro and the staff just stood around beings Miserable. Will not be going back and will not recommend

We had a fabulous night here, the ambience was great, good music and lively tapas bar, with both humans and canines. The food was tasty, we had a combination of chilli and tapas.. The only downside was it was so busy it took time to get the food. The wine selection was good and what we chose was delicious. There... More

Been coming here for about 8 years. My favourite place in Ventnor, the food has always been really nice. Visited last week for a meal before returning to the mainland. Three of us ordered pork meatballs, another piri piri chicken. The waitress (a lovely lady named Jo) delivered our meals. Regrettably, two of the meatball dishes had to be rejected... More
