We visited on Sunday the 16/01/22 for my husbands birthday, 6 of us enjoyed delicious food and great service, we all had a variety of things on the set menu which was great choice and great value for money, one thing I would suggest is...that £3 for a pint of carbonated water I thought was very expensive for something that costs nothing!! But a good enjoyable eveningMore

Came in for lunch on my January birthday, the choice of menu made it very difficult to choose and we enjoyed every single thing we had. Would definitely recommend, we will be back!

My Nan organised a bereavement party for her late son for 30 to attend. She wasn’t given the option to choose what went on the buffet and wasn’t told what to expect on it either by the owner. The staff on the day were amazing...we couldn’t fault them but when the buffet arrived it was clear there wasn’t enough for 30 people. The vegetarian dishes had been mixed in with meat ones and nothing was labelled causing a vegetarian guest to bite into meat and a guest with a fish allergy to almost eat fish. We mentioned it to a member of staff who couldn’t have been more apologetic and passed on the comments to the owner. The owner later arrived saying he “couldn’t believe he had to come here instead of going straight home” and that he had “had a sh*t day”. We said we weren’t complaining but just wanted them to be aware for future events To which he decided my Nan wanted a refund (she didn’t) and he came and threw money at her at the table and said she was “lucky the buffet wasn’t just sausage rolls like elsewhere”. The food itself was fine and the staff were amazing, literally just the owner that let it down. We had a meal there last week and he was so lovely and couldn’t do enough saying how special he was going to make it. I understand having a bad day but it is no excuse for the sheer in professionalism displayed! When he practically threw the money back at my Nan for a refund he went to go downstairs and ordered the staff to clear down the room when not all of us were ready to leave! The ladies serving were absolutely amazing and we couldn’t fault their service at all, they had also previously agreed with our opinion on the buffet ie the mixing of fish with the meat and were mortified about this and they couldn’t apologise enough. Just a shame about the management!!More

I have visited here on a good few occasions and thought it is about time I praised Howard and his staff. Last visit Friday 3rd December. Was a busy night liked like a few Xmas parties, the staff worked hard to try and keep all...customers happy, we had off the evening Xmas menu and all I can say is the food was as good as ever, I could go on about how good the staff where but you do need to visit to see for yourself quality is key.More

Large party booked weeks in advance, pre ordered a few days before. We arrived at booking time 12:30pm; the staff said that they had 'run out' of some of the meals/desserts ordered (we'd pre ordered so I don't understand how). Food was basic, definitely frozen...roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. 5 ordered roast dinners - only enough vegetables sent out for 4 . Unusual food combinations ( boiled potatoes with cous-cous and halloumi?) , strawberry tart that wasn't a strawberry tart at all, more like an almond flan thing, and Cheese and biscuits- one of the cheeses was just a babybel cut in half! Waited over an hour for the starters which were just, basic, then there was such a long delay between courses. Honestly, it wasn't horrendous, but it was overpriced and definitely not fine dining. We spotted that the table opposite ordered fish and chips which did look AMAZING. The Wilko's hand wash still in the original wilkos packaging in the ladies just about finished me off. This is the second time we've had a disappointing experience here, we wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt, but I can honestly say we won't be returning. The staff were all young kids, but I have to say that they were all lovely and a really good representation of the restaurant.More

Just got home from a fantastic evening with our Bereavement Group. There were 14 of us. Nothing was too much trouble. The food, service and atmosphere was second to none. Thank you so so much for making our visit tremendous. Here's to many more.

We waited 90 mins to be served even though we had booked weeks ago and ordered our food earlier in the week. The food was pretty mediocre, tepid and several of us were served the wrong meal but we were so hungry we just ate it anyway....The staff were obviously unused to dealing with larger parties (30 people in this case) as they appeared stressed and one in particular was extremely rude. As this was a retirement party for a well loved colleague we were very disappointed with the whole experience. I will never go there again.More

My partner and I ate here after visiting The Wigan Diggers Festival on 11 September 2021 and, as we had met up with some friends there, we all ate together and all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My partner and I had eaten here in the...past, after another Diggers Festival and I was not too impressed at this time as my fish had a lot of bones in it. My Pimms was served correctly and the wine was lovely. We all ate from the three course menu. I had the braised streak in a red wine gravy for a main meal and it was cooked to perfection. My partner had the chicken tikka masala. The desserts too were delicious. The staff are courteous and very friendly. It had been a busy day for them but they managed to show efficiency and keep a smile on their faces. It is also very reasonably priced and the portions are well sized.More

A couple of years ago I ate here and was less than impressed. This time everything was great. Super service as previously and both our dishes were well done.

Arrived at 1830 a bit early for our 1900 booking, was greeted by the owner in a very friendly and welcoming way, Shown to our table, which was clean, the staff were very friendly and our waitresses although young you would have though they had...been doing it for years, Our drinks arrived followed by our starters, we was asked on numerous times throughout the evening if everything was ok. The food was first class we would recommend anyone to try. we have booked Xmas and New year eve with them and we are looking forward to many more meals here.More
