The title is a little misleading because plaice is not on the menu but I could not resist the use of the term in the title. However, "the place" meaning the Chippy is certainly not to be missed if you are looking for quality fish and chip shops. I have reviewed a number of excellent fish and chip shops in... More

Fantastic chippy with great prices. Does smaller meals too for those with smaller appetite. Best chippy I've ever been to. Fish and chips cooked to perfection not greasy at all. Anyone visiting Wigan it's worth a visit. Nice and friendly staff. If you're esting in then just find a table and they will come over to serve you.

Gotta say the Chippery is by far the best chippy in Wigan. Andy gives a friendly greeting whenever you visit. The place is always clean, the food is constantly good. I've never had a bad portion of chips.

I visited The New Chippery today and enjoyed a lovely chippy dinner. I was seen to almost immediately by a friendly young waitress. When my meal arrived, the chips were piping hot and a lovely colour. Would definitely go again if I found myself in Wigan.
