One of several visits to this very clean and well presented restaurant. We have never been let down and the cod and chips are very tasty.Tea for two in the upstairs area overlooking the market place and very friendly and attentive staff what more do you want.

I've been to the Magpie Café in Whitby and the Anstruther Fish Bar though the Fish Combo Platter I ate for lunch at Bell's at the weekend was Superb! Greeted by an accommodating waitress and shown to a table upstairs we were served our Earl Grey Team and meal within 15 minutes of being seated. The meal didn't leave that... More

Whitby is probably the best fish and chip town on the planet, this place is as good as most Whitby fish and chip establishments, definitely the best in the North. Everything deep fried in beef dripping just how it should be. Efficient staff but turn the radio off please!

Simply put still the best fish and chip takeaway you will ever get. Lovely food and very clean facilities. Both the north road and market place branches maintain the standard every time I go and never fail to disappoint.

Got my dinner from the takeaway just next door to the main restaurant. Really quick service and great value for money - only about £3 for a jumbo (1cm thick x 8-10cm long) battered sausage and generous portion of chips done in beef dripping. The beef dripping imparts such a lovely taste that you absolutely do not need to add... More

I always stop at Bells when visiting Durham. It can get pretty busy, so be prepared to wait. Well worth it!
