Called in for light lunch. Food great and staff very friendly and attentive. Comment about the number of different tonics resulted in a fantastic gin tasting experience thanks to Ben who had in-depth knowledge about gin, mixers etc. and went out of his way to help us understand what makes an exceptional drink. Thanks Ben and staff we had a... More

Visited again tonight, very busy at teatime as Christmas nights out have started but staff went out of their way to find me and my nephew a table in the bar (had my dog with me too so bar fine). Food excellent, once again, a burger and a steak, mushroom and onion baguette. However, the main thing that stands out... More

Called for a couple of pints on Saturday tea time. Lovely atmosphere, we were there for 2 hours. We were intending to find a local Italian until we spotted a gentleman eating his pizza at the end of the bar. As it looked fab, we decided to eat too, and I have to say what a great decision. All 4... More

Visited last night with some colleagues, massive portions and served quite quickly. We did wait quite a while for dessert but by the time we were finishing the pub did get very busy. If you are going on a weekend I would definitely book! Would return as I would like to try some more of the menu!

Having read the recent reviews made a beeline for this pub. Very disappointed as the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. Soup of the day was a tin by Heinz with dried basil added. The panini was served with soggy chips.

During our three day-stay in Durham, we went there twice. Great food - mainly meat, but well cooked and tasty vegetables too, a rather rare option in England... - great location and atmosphere. Good price/quality ratio.
