This place has been highly recommended by many people in Durham. Finally after a year of living in Durham I decided to try on Friday morning. Thankfully, it wasn't crowded! So ee found a spot right away. I ordered classic pancake with maple syrup was really good but nothing extraordinary! And a bit over priced. £7.95 for a pancake (4... More

This is a superb find in Durham , the food is so creative and healthy. Serving staff need to be better organised in seating waiting customers more efficiently and timely in filling empty chairs or people might walk away, there are alternatives. The wait was worth it, the superfood salad is spectacular .

Visited this cafe twice over the past few days for lunch and Sunday morning breakfast. Both meals were of the highest quality, so much so that I would rate these as the best meals my husband and I have experienced during our break in Durham. Portions were good, staff were friendly and attentive. Opening at 10am on Sunday morning, we... More

Visited Flat White (Cafe) not be be confused with Flat White Kitchen, which we later found around the corner. Emerged from multi storey car park, new visitor to Durham, hungry and thirsty no idea of bearings within the city. Climbed up the steps and followed the crowds and stumbled across this quaint little place by chance. Aesthetics drew me in,... More

Something a little different, food was delicious. Quirky place, staff responsive and professional, one of our dishes was the wrong order but they quickly corrected this.

We turned up about 12.45pm on a Saturday and had quite a wait for a table but it was totally worth it. My husband's ham hock hash was divine and my banoffee pancakes were simply the best pancakes I've ever had - thick, soft, fluffy, enormous and topped with deliciousness! Good coffee. Fabulous, friendly staff. I wished we lived closer... More

Been to Flat White Kitchen tonight to try their evening menu for the first time. Loved it. .Great 'small plate' menu of about 15 dishes as well as sharing charcuterie and cheese platters. The range on offer is eclectic - think of 'modern tapas' Seville style and you'll get the picture. It works, and works really well. A lot of... More

We had to queue to go in but there was a bench to sit on while you wait. The staff were very cheerful and friendly, and the service was good. A nice tea served in iron pots, and delicious cake, what could be nicer. Lovely old building and very interesting quirky loos. We loved this cafe and congratulate the staff... More

Description
Located on Saddler Street, just seconds away from Durham Cathedral, is Flat White Durham's latest venture: Flat White Kitchen. The five-story 16th century property has been restored back to its original splendour and is a meld of stripped-wood, copper pipes and bare brick alongside opulent French mirrors and fresh flowers. The coffee offering showcases the owners' talents, who opened their first cafe after working alongside some of Australia's greatest roasters. Five years on, the two are still regulars on the coffee machine, passing on their talents to only a select few who make the cut. The food offering from Flat White Kitchen is equally as perfected as the coffee. A strong, kitchen team has been hand selected from the finest northern restaurants to ensure that the menu is as strong as the reputation.
