We were finishing a fantastic weekend in Durham where we stayed in the lovely Marriot Royal County Hotel when we came accross a queue outside this restaurant which was to open at 10am. Like sheep we decided to join it. The Flat White is a very cool and relaxed restaurant with warm and friendly staff. I had freshly squeezed orange... More

as is well documented on here, this is a very trendy place with excellent coffee. However, one would have to say its pretty cramped and the seats against the wall are uncomfortable. The competition is the big Starbucks on framwellgate bridge. Overall, the starbucks is probably a better experience.

We called here on a wet day out in Durham. We sat outside with our two basset hounds but were offered blankets although we were not that cold. We had coffee's and scones and were both lovely. The coffee made to your specific order and warm scones with jam and cream were a real delight. The cafe is tucked away... More

We are in Durham for a weekend break away and happened to fall on this little gem!! Everything was fabulous!! Great food, coffee, staff and atmosphere. A little pricey but if you want cheap processed food and rubbish coffee then go to a chain restaurant. My husband ordered sauce on the side but the dish came with it on, staff... More

Popped in on the recommendation of more than one friend for a takeaway coffee - wasn't disappointed! Took a while for the coffee to come but that was only due to the care put into the cup. Also took a (superb) brownie away as we couldn't resist!

Perfect coffee shop, I prefer independent places like this as opposed to big chain coffee shops. The coffee is amazing and the cakes are delicious as well. It's only a very small place but worth queuing if it's busy.

The opening of Flat White Kitchen has done nothing to diminish the appeal of this great coffee shop. In fact you have more chance of getting a seat these days. Great coffee, and their light snacks are always spot on, if not the cheapest. There seems a template used to produce affable staff, who seem to be able to bring... More

I visited this cafe with family including my baby who is nearly 6 months old. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating even though it was busy and we had a baby buggy. We had hot sandwiches, cake and coffee - everything was delicious. I really like the menu, many of the options are quite inventive and offer something a... More

Description
Located on Saddler Street, just seconds away from Durham Cathedral, is Flat White Durham's latest venture: Flat White Kitchen. The five-story 16th century property has been restored back to its original splendour and is a meld of stripped-wood, copper pipes and bare brick alongside opulent French mirrors and fresh flowers. The coffee offering showcases the owners' talents, who opened their first cafe after working alongside some of Australia's greatest roasters. Five years on, the two are still regulars on the coffee machine, passing on their talents to only a select few who make the cut. The food offering from Flat White Kitchen is equally as perfected as the coffee. A strong, kitchen team has been hand selected from the finest northern restaurants to ensure that the menu is as strong as the reputation.
