The family and I eat and drink here regularly, but I thought it was about time I put in a review for others. The food here is excellent and we have never had a bad meal. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the views are great to relax on an evening (or any time of day really). They do... More

Having finished a challenging term, my wife (a school bursar) and I headed for the Lake District, and our lunch destination was an old but recently neglected favourite. It was always good, but they have massively improved the outdoor area , and really upped their game menu wise. Our starters and mains were quite excellent and very generous (sadly one... More

Called here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch/tea at around 1600.Only a couple of tables were available which is always a good sign. All starters and main meals ( burger, crab cakes, pie of the day) were all lovely and with views to match on a sunny day can fully recommend. We even came and had a second meal on our last day... More

the 3 of us could not get in the restaurant, so settled for a bar service meal. competent food, chirpily served, about £85 with service and 3 drinks, pretty fair value we need pubs like this down south..

Service was very slow- ( 90 minutes for two courses) - my wife and I both ordered pheasant ( it was not cooked - some parts still raw) - made staff aware but just got a shrug and " we will make the chef aware". No offer to correct the issue I guess usually a very nice place but not... More

We sat in a cosy room off the main bar with a nice window view, really quaint rustic feel so a great start. Fab choices on the menu, I opted a wild boar burger with cheese & bacon, it was amazing and huge but I nearly managed to finish it, really tender and full of flavour. My partner had steak... More

An absolute gem of a place and I cannot recommend highly enough. Accommodation was perfect with splendid views over the valley and very wel fitted and presented. Food and beverages were top class with a wide variety to suit all tastes. Best of all the staff providing a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to a highly proffessional standard. Many thanks for... Fabulous dinner here. Enjoyed the atmosphere very much. Food was well presented and tasty. Meet some locals and spent the evening with them chatting about the local area and history. Very memorable evening
