We called in for a drink and we may have had food but unfortunately they do not start offering food until 6 pm. There beer was good and they have a selection of gins. Staff friendly. Toilets could do with an uplift and parking is difficult when busy. I do not believe this is a dog friendly pub in that... More

We would highly recommend visiting the masons arms, very traditional log fire we had our dinner right next to it which was nice. The food was very good and the portions are huge! I had ham hock and my fiancé had pork belly both were very tasty! Nice outside area to with a nice view.

Stayed 2 nights here. Room was comfortable, but quite small, given the duplex design. All clean and tidy, with a nice view over the valley from the downstairs section. A quirky set up to maximise the space and views but some parts are a bit impractical - no side tables by the bed, limited storage etc. Would recommend the owners... More

This is a lovely pub with a nice history but I'm unclear why its rated so highly. The food is nice, but variable depending on what you ordered, and arguably not worth travelling miles for. The portions are very plentiful so bear that in mind when ordering (e.g. you order fishcakes and get two large ones for some unnecessary reason).... More

Our friends were staying close by to The Masons and so we went along for dinner,we didn't book but were accommodated fine ( 5.30pm) The pub is traditional, gorgeous and cosy with coal fires NB beware of sitting too close to the fire unless you are a very cold person !! The menu had a fantastic selection of dishes with some... More

We went for a meal here a couple of days ago on the strength of the reviews on TA, and really enjoyed the food and ambiance. The Masons Arms is just our kind of place, and we would love to sit on the outside terrace in the summer months on another visit. Our table was upstairs where there are several... More

My partner and I went for dinner having previously telephoned .The place was already busy when we arrived at 6.15pm and we were forced to sit at an uncomfortable table in the snug (or eat in solitary isolation upstairs). The menu and daily specials were extensive and we enjoyed three of our four chosen dishes - the asparagus risotto starter... More

This is a wonderful unpretentious country pub in the middle of spectacular lake district countryside. But it is in the middle of nowhere and takes some finding. There is wholesome food and plenty of it, well kept local draught ales, and very friendly and helpful staff. Large collection of bottle beers. Good outside eating area. Recommended.

Thank Richard G
