Quite expensive and full of a lunch time. Food was ok but expensive. Service was brisk but be prepared to wait for a table.

A pleasant venue for a good cup of coffee and excellent cheese scones. The food is all well presented and the staff are generally cheery. However when it gets busy they do seem a little disorganised. The room is light and airy but unfortunately there are only a few window tables that are rapidly filled so don't expect a view.

Free to visit without having to pay museum admission. The cafe has wonderful food and a varied menu and the cakes are definitely a highlight as there is quite a variety. We tend to grab a window seat as my son likes looking out and finds the seats more comfortable. Please be patient with service as staff are very friendly... More

I can't fault the food. A group of 4 had 4 different meals and we were all very happy with them. Chairs were very comfortable and the menu was well labelled (gluten-free, contains dairy etc...) Although there were some options that should have been vegetarian but weren't labelled as such, so I assumed the cheese contained rennet. This made the... More

Visited the Museum, decided to have a quick bite and a cuppa. Tried to get in at just after 1pm, waited at the sign for 5 minutes and were not even aknowledged. Returned 10 minutes later, got a table after a short wait, placed order and within 5 minutes tea arrived and then the sandwiches and bowl of chips. I... More

Gluten free options well signposted on the menu and staff very helpful. Not much wait for a seat although we had expected to from some write ups. We must have timed it well.

This is the second time we've dined here after spending the day in the museum and both times were as menial as each other. There isn't enough staff to cope with the amount of people at lunch times. We queued for 30 minutes, to then be sat at the table waiting for another 20 minutes. Our drinks took so long... More

They were busy, but after 15 minutes of having seen people served who came in after us we walked out. We tried twice more, but never went in as full and clearly stretched. Shame, the cake looked nice.

Really tasty "home cooked" meals and snacks of a quality more than one would normally expect from a museum cafe. Have table service so saves the endless queuing, with very helpful and friendly staff even when full. Have specialist beers :-)

Cafe was very busy so had to queue a while but managed to find a quiet(ish) table tucked in a corner and thoroughly enjoyed the excellent cake washed down with a good strong cup of tea. Pricey but good.
