Called in for a quick late lunch. Nice surroundings, but needed some quiet background music as it was silent, and you could hear everyone's conversations, even at the tables at the other side of the room. Hubby had a very substantial BLT with big chunks of fresh chicken, and really enjoyed it. I ordered chicken and lemon Mayo wrap. It... More

Searched out because of their wonderful website. Their lunch menu was a little less expansive than we expected but each of us found a choice that was excellent. Val was particularly taken with the high tea, which was served up earlier in the day than you would expect.

We were lucky - it hardly rained, we went straight into a car parking space, the market was in, the Bowes Museum was wonderful and we got a table straight away at Clarendons. Very good home made soups, bread and puddings/ cakes. They did a special salad for me. Not the cheapest, but definitely quality. Highly recommended

A great introduction to the lovely town of 'Barny' Cozy, comfortable cafe, lovely staff and menu Great for light lunch, the clotted cream scone was super We all enjoyed and the waitress made a lovely fuss of mum who's getting on a bit! Accessing the toilet difficult for people with mobility problems as up 2 flights of stairs

This was a good place to have lunch. Great soup and nice sandwiches at reasonable prices. The restroom was on the second floor, so not suitable for less mobile visitors.

A wonderful breakfast in a lovely town. The service and quality of the food was excellent. There's a very good selection and you are not rushed, they were keen to help visitors to the area understand what was to do in the area.

Ate here recently with our 10 and 13 year old children. The food was lovely and they had a good range of gluten free foods for me (always a bonus!) My children just had deserts as they had eaten greggs earlier and I have to say they looked wonderful! They have a gift shop upstairs too. Well worth a visit.

During our stay, we visited Clarendon 3 times as it was that good. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Not well known by most people but there is a little shop up stairs in Clarendon's. Shop had closed however staff allowed us up to view and if we made any purchases they rang it through the till in the cafe.
