We regularly eat fish and chips from the Royal Plaice, usually take away but sometimes eat in. We arrived as a party of four, having pre-booked in case it was busy. 84 year old aunt was visiting us so we decided to eat in the restaurant. She's blind and has a guide dog. The owner didn't have a problem with... More

We had a nice chip takeaway from here and the food and the service was good but they close around 8/9 pm and it would be nice if they stayed open later in case you fancy some chips after a drink in town.

This used to be a very good restaurant which we have regularly supported over the last 5 or 6 years. However, over the last three visits the food has been progressively worse. Final straw was when an early evening takeaway produced 4 meals of soggy batter and what we can only presume was recooked chips from previous evening or lunchtime.... More

The great thing about this fish and chip shop and restaurant is that you can buy your drinks in the adjacent pub and bring them in to your table as you eat the delicious fish and chips, and vice versa, you can take your fish and chips to the pub. This is a very popular restaurant, which means that they... More

The owner of this establishment clearly has no people skills so beware he is loud and ignorant of the needs of Assistance Dog owners. He does understand the fact that he is breaking the law by refusing access and comes up with excuses not to serve you. On reflection we should have stayed longer and gathered more evidence. My wife... More

After walking in the wrong side and being told quite loudly to go round to the takeaway counter we ordered our two cod and chips .I must say the meal was fantastic, fish was white and chunky and the chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle.Perfect.

This place and the pub opposite are the same business. You can buy take away, eat in, or take your food across to the pub and eat it there. We ate in and it was fine, good value and fresh fish. The pub, however, is where the rowdy locals gather so not for everyone.

Me and my wife visited the Royal Plaice this evening and probably by far the nicest fish and chips I have had in a very long time. We decided to have the Take Away option, which was a bit of a wait, but due to high demand, bank holiday weekend and time of the year (full of grockles) we didn't... More
