As my birthday is in January I have had a fair amount of disappointing meals, often a combination of weary menus after Christmas and empty restaurants. I have tried to get a table here many times so this time I booked early. From being whisked off to a lovely lounge for pre dinner drinks to collapsing back there after diner... More

This is a quirky restaurant and the service is amazing. However, this comes at a price. In my view, it's a price worth paying because the food is amazing and the surroundings delightful.

Words cannot express how good the food is. We go back once a year to celebrate our engagement and they always give up a treat. Love this place, the ambience, the food and helpful staff.

The pig has a wonderful setting in a beautiful old house and they take full advantage of it. On arrival, we were shown to a lovely gathering of sofas around a small wood burning stove in the library where a very knowledgeable and friendly waiter took our order - he happily advised on the different Gins available for G&T's and... If you're going to really enjoy your meal at the Pig, then forget the bank balance. The food is very reasonably priced, but drinks and extras can add up. On the food front, we tried some of the piggy bits and potato cake for starters - both delicious - followed by pigeon and pork loin. The pigeon was amazing. The... More

Once we arrived we were seated straight away as we had booked in advance. Although a weekday it was during the Christmas break so was quite busy, it can be busy at weekends as well. People were seated in reception rooms and able to order drinks and peruse the menu whilst waiting to be seated. This was our first visit... More

I realise restaurant called "pig" probably not the most sensible choice for a vegan but reviews had been good, lots of talk about home grown veg, we went with whole family and we gave them LOADS of notice. When we booked table for 7, 3 months in advance we said party included 2 vegans and 2 vegetarians, We double checked... More

Beautiful venue but charged double the price for our drinks and when we queried it and pointed out their mistake the member of staff was reluctant to accept this has been their mistake, so much for the customer being right, shame as put the dampers on an otherwise good start to our evening

We visited the pig after a lovely long walk. We were met at the door and explained to the guy we wanted a bar snack and was shown to a table . There was only a few people but after being served mulled cider ( which was nice) no-one came to take our order. An hour went by so we... More

A straw poll of friends subsequently reveals that 3 sardines would be reasonable for a starter, 2 tight, but just ONE, ridiculous! Sardines are very cheap, unlike e,g scallops, so no economic justification. Compensated by ordering more bread. Don't know if we were charged extra for that; probably! We were treated to this meal by dear friends, so we never... More
