When we first arrived the place struck me as a bit odd, but husband convinced me that it was worth staying for lunch. He was right, the service was a bit on the slow side, very friendly though and it led to a nice relaxing Sunday lunch. The food was excellent. There was just the one vegetarian option, but I... Often when hunting for a new place to eat you have to visit alot, most which you cannot leave fast enough, however this was not one of those. While trying to decide if we were going to stay, were made to feel very welcome, and stayed because of the menu. While catering well for meat eaters it also had a... More

We both thought the food was briliant, only a small menu but what we had was cooked to perfection , the staff were all very friendly and made you feel at home, but if there was one highlight its got to be the hoste Giles he sat on the next table and we had a good chat, fantastic senes of... More

Having read the reviews on here, we booked in for Sunday lunch. A cute little pub with a knowledgeable and welcoming team behind it. The food was incredible, best Sunday roast you could get. Quite a small menu outside of this but you wouldn't want anything else. Simply superb!

Fabulous food and very welcoming. Love the welcome they give the dog. Our fourth visit and we've never had a bad meal.

The only danger is having moved to the village, this is a couple of minutes walk away😊. It is a local country pub that is serving good food. The staff know the locals and have time for chat. Giles the landlord is a friendly soul. Well worth a visit

We found this restaurant after looking on Trip Advisor and didn't know what to expect. The food is beautiful and the atmosphere is very friendly. We will definitely be returning. Thank you very much. If you are reading these reviews, then I would definitely recommend going to check this place out - you will probably find a new favourite place.

... and just as the last reviewer recommended, we did meet Giles... quite a character! We stopped over for Sunday lunch on route back to London and enjoyed a generous portion of succulent roast pork with wonderful crackling. We'll certainly visit again when we're in the area and can wholeheartedly recommend.

Down the M4, just past Swindon, I hit "near me now" to find a local lunch spot. The 200+ favourable reviews led us to The Rising Sun, where everything is made in house from the Port-marinated Grapes down to the Tartar Sauce for the great Fish and (triple cooked!) Chips . BUT... Food is not everything! The boss, Giles, is... More

Four of us visited yesterday for lunch; our friends live locally. Whilst from the outside this might not look like a venue for good quality fresh food, it certainly is! Good variety of local ales on tap, bar menu was excellent. The house burger is very impressive as is the fish & chips. Service good, very friendly and welcoming. Homemade... More
