Came here with my parents & wife for a birthday meal. The staff were extremely friendly & helpful. We all had Dexter steaks, which were beautifully cooked. The triple cooked chips were great as well. We will definitely be returning.

My husband and I visited the Rising Sun today on the way to another pub, however, the car park looked busy for a Friday lunchtime in January, so thought we would try it. I am delighted we didn't make it to the other pub. Such a lovely, warm and friendly welcome, along with the best lunch I have had in... More

Just came back from a meal. The food was excellent and the pub had a lovely buzzing atmosphere. We were made to feel very welcome and will be going back.

Like the old tv classic, Cheers, in this pub, everyone knows your name. My husband and I are from Canada but from the first visit here, we have felt very welcome and amongst friends. The food and drink are plentiful, delicious and served with warmth and friendliness. Very enjoyable and highly recommended!

Popped in for lunch on the recommendation of friends in the village. The food was fantastic with the children having brilliant fish and chips and grown ups having wonderful pan fried cod. We finished with homemade ice cream that was amazing. Giles and Heidi were really welcoming to us and our two kids (6&5). Will definitely return!

I have been trying to arrange a birthday party for a relative in the forthcoming weeks. I made a phone call to the Rising Sun and spoke with the owner a pleasant gentleman and was advised that they could cater for a large party. I then arranged for the menus to be emailed.... I waited and waited and waited, still... More

There are Sunday lunches and there is The Riser Lunch! Just about the only place where 'rare roast beef' is actually red and beautifully rare. And that was Tia's dish... I just had to sample, as it looked so delish... My pan fried cod in a sea food bisque was just perfect especially after I ordered a slice of bread... More

We found this pub in Britstops motorhome book and what a find. Welcoming atmosphere, service second to none and food you just wish you could receive everywhere, such a delight. The log burners were lit, the candles glowing, all the food we had was freshly prepared and to top it all the owner came to greet us and could not... More

We arrived at The Rising Sun just after 7pm on Tuesday, as we had heard about the pizza nights. The restaurant was extremely busy and even though we hadn't booked we managed to get a table for the two us. Heidi the bar maid and Giles the Landlord looked after us very well. The menu had a good selection of... More

I was delighted to see that Giles had come to his senses and re-started the Pizza night. However I was less impressed when I received my Pizza, the meat feast is definitely not a feast. Previously I had struggled to eat it as it was fully loaded, this time I was left somewhat under whelmed and under fed. Looking around... More

Afternoon Kleads, Thanks for your comments on Pizza Night. Yes the atmosphere was great, Heidi excels as always and as for the landlord.... Overall iit's proving a pretty popular event and and numbers increasing each week so glad we brought it back. Sadly I sadly didn't see the size of the meat feast but take your word that it could...
