The Chequers is my local although we live in Grantham 7 miles away😀 This is testament to how good the food is here and how welcoming and friendly the proprietors are. I have brought friends and colleagues from all over Europe here to eat and they always request it when visiting again!

A very cosy pub well worth a visit on a cold and rainy winters night. The food is good, but not exceptional. The waitress was very pleasant, the bar staff less so. We paid £60 for 2 mains, 2 desserts and a couple of drinks each. Worth a visit.

As an extended family, we've been dining at the Chequers for well over 10 years, and what's particularly impressive is how the standards of food and service are as good now as they were when we first came. On this occasion we combined two family birthdays for a party of 7 for Sunday Lunch. One of the nice things about... More

Celebrating my fathers birthday a Sunday lunch that should have been very enjoyable. We were sat in the main restaurant that was empty apart from a party of over 20 people who were there to celebrate a christening. There was no mention of this when our table was booked. We were unable to converse with each other over our meal... More

Booked in for 6.30 but didn't get to the table until 6.45pm. Only a little thing but the restaurant was fairly quiet. Had main meal of fish and chips which was good but not offered bread before hand. Wondered if this is only given if you have starters? Chocolate pudding to finish. Not rushed at all and wine and beer... More

Met Sarah at this pub 9 years ago and decided to go back and spend the night there. Pros excellent service good food nice people reasonably priced great setting comfy beds. Siderlet gin was brilliant with fire tree tonic. Cons could not figure out heating, the risotto was a bit bland. Overall a great place and we'll return again. Highly... More

Took a very special lady for dinner last night for her birthday. The food was fantastic and the service could not be faulted. We will definitely be back

We arrived around 3pm and our room (number 2) was ready and we were checked in swiftly. The bed was a proper king size, not a mean double. Very comfortable bed and room, if not overly large. Crowded bathroom with a large-ish shower, and the radiator did not work in the bathroom (commented on by others). But the room radiator... More

What a wonderful hidden gem this find was. We were staying en route for a 'shopping trip' in the area with our two dogs. The rooms in an old converted stable block are beautifully decorated and fitted out, simple and well stocked with everything you might need overnight, with added little touches like fairtrade tea & coffee and even hot... My friend recently moved into the village. It is a beautiful location under the watchful eye of Belvoir Castle. We decided I would treat them to a meal in the local pub/restaurant. We did have a small problem in the fact that we had a young child and a baby and it seems as though we were placed in the... More
