The location of this restaturant is fabulous, by the sea. Very well designed, with a confortabble ante-room, the service, food, and ambience are all up to stratch. Would definitely recommend.

Warm and friendly staff. The views were wonderful as we watched the sun and showers move across the water. Food was excellent and the portion size just right. Two types of potatoes and veg come with the main courses. Desserts were tasty.

I just reviewed the hotel but will add the restaurant. Highly recommended by friends as a foodies type restaurant. Design seems to be updated with open atrium like dining room with great full windows looking out to the sea. I am giving a rating of very good but it was a struggle between this rating and average. Overall experience was... More

The Shephardess Pie was literally a 1cm deep layer of cubed carrot with mash on top and it cost £14. The restaurant is really lovely to look at however vegetarian options are not taken seriously here, which is a shame. My partner had the steak and said it was really good.

Came here for an intimate dinner with my husband, the views were spectacular! The staff were very attentive, professional and friendly. The food was fantastic, from starters to deserts. My husband had the belly pork for his main, the portion sizes were very generous, I had the fillet steak with haggis, I had never tasted haggis before but this was... More

A very special place, great views over Scapa and Kirkwall, fantastic food, attentive staff. We really must try to go at least once a year! One of the few restaurants I have been to and can honestly say have never been disappointed. Although at the higher end of the price range in Orkney they are still very reasonable for the... More

We dined at the forveran on Friday 7th April and have mixed reviews on the restaurant. I had informed the restaurant (owner I believe?) two months prior that it was my Father’s 60th on the 7th and a very special evening for our family of five. Apart from a small amount of confetti sprinkled on the table, it wasn’t mentioned.... More

Lovely views over Scapa Flow, very good service and delicious local food. We had excellent meals everywhere we went in Orkney, but the Foveran was definitely a step up in food, service and location and well deserves it's number one spot.

Having read a few reviews on Trip Advisor I wanted to book a special meal for my wife whilst visiting Orkney with a friend. Our friend is Gluten Intolerant so we we're pleased that the restaurant caters for gluten free meals. The service was first class from start to finish. Courteous and efficient without being intrusive. If only more Restaurants... More

Description
At the Foveran, you can enjoy the finest Orkney produce in a relaxed and comfortable setting with stunning views across historic Scapa Flow.
Superb seafood features strongly on our menu along with prime beef and lamb. We work closely with local livestock farmers, fishermen and growers to select the best seasonal produce for our larder ensuring we obtain the highest quality. We strive to create dishes from the freshest, local ingredients. As well as supporting local producers, we are keen to retain Orkney's culinary traditions. We bake our own bread daily including 'bere bunno' or bannock (a traditional flat bread) using stone-ground beremeal flour from the Barony Mill.
We also offer a wide range of carefully selected wines, liqueurs, local ales and malts. These can be enjoyed at your table, or in the more relaxed setting of the lounge.
We're really proud to have been four times winner of the Orkney Food and Drink 'best evening meal' award and the first 'Orkney Masterchef 2014 title.
We look forward to offering you a memorable Orcadian experience.
