We weren't quite sure what to expect but a friend had been before and rated it quite highly. We had a set menu which gave us a small but adequate choice of meals. The staff were very friendly and welcoming giving great service. The ambiance was excellent with just enough quirkiness to lift it out of the ordinary. The food... More

I was fortunately enough to be visiting Loughborough for business and colleagues suggested this location for dinner. The food and atmosphere was pleasant, the bread was delightful and meal was tasty. Sitting outside for dinner was a nice treat too.

We'd been eyeing a visit to the Hammer and Pincers for some time, but had held off as we felt it might not be suitable for our 9-yr-old (who we take everywhere). With the youngster spending a few days camping with friends of ours, we took full advantage and booked a table on 20th July. We were showed to a... More

What a difference a week makes! Last week we experienced poor service & average food at a nearby Restaurant with similar historic credentials. This week we enjoyed good hospitality from the minute we walked in the door (on spec without a reservation on a Friday evening). Strong management & good service throughout. We only had two courses plus a delightful... More

Tender roast beef, crisp Yorkshire pud, lovely roasties, cauliflower cheese, perfectly cooked carrot and greens and lovely gravy. Washed down with a reasonably priced rose and served with a smile. What's not to like?

The meal we had at the Hammer and Pincers, was one of the best we have had for a long time. The staff were attentive and the presentation of the dishes immaculate. The wines available are interesting, with many available by the glass. Source of produce is very important to the restaurant, so much so that there is a list... More

Booked a table over three months ago to celebrate my sons graduation, seated on a table facing the kitchen and toilet door!. Expressed my dissatisfaction to the front of house manager he offered to move us to the table next to us!!. Food was good but evening spoilt by the table location.

We are here last year and it was simply brilliant - in fact we are still talking about I as probably the best meal we have ever had. I wasn't a reviewer them but having eaten at 3 Michelin starred restaurants since, only one even came close, and the others were a long way behind - so having reviewed them... More
