We all have our favourites for some its wine and others it's whiskey for me it's beer or more precisely ale. So imagine the disappointment when you get a pint of your favourite beer and it just doesn't taste as good as it should. For wine or whiskey drinkers this is a rare occasion probably because it has come from... More

We used the pubs car park to take a lovely countryside and clifftop walk, then went in for a meal (fabulous) one of our party has a gluten intolerant problem, we even had the chef come to the table to help with suggestions for his meal, all the staff were very helpful. The only downside was that the table we... More

Freshly cooked food, very different from pre-prepared food at local pub/restaurants. Family run pub and well prepared ales

We visit The Royal Oak quite often for different reasons and events and are never disappointed, so we suggested a carvery for my father in laws birthday. Everyone was delighted with their meals and thought the service and atmosphere was fantastic. It's difficult to find somewhere that pleases everyone across the generations but before leaving, family members have rebooked for... More

We have been a few times now for Sunday lunch. Booking is advisable as it is usually very busy. There are other choices on the Sunday menu, but we always go for the carvery. The meat is delicious and the portion very generous. You then help yourself to a good selection of accompaniments and vegetables. All for £9.95, or you... More

We hadn't been here for some time but heard it was greatly improved. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was home cooked and excellent. The crumble was very good. It is typical bar food with burgers and steaks but also other items but none the wires for that.

Called into he Royal oak for an evening meal, it was not overly busy, but a bit noisy with various parties having their meals, it took a while not only to place our order bot to actually receive it, But when it arrived, it was well worth it, I had the lamb with mustard sauce, potatoes & fresh veg ,... The food at this place was amazing. Not one out of the four of us could fault it. Nice menu range and friendly staff. 3 of us had thier Homemade steak, mushroom and red wine pie, you have a choice of chips or can go to the carvery and help yourself to whatever you like. All four of us had... More

The best I've had in ages. I cook my own roasts and I am very fussy. I haven't got a bad word to say! I am now stuffed as I just couldn't stop eating. I think I actually enjoyed the veg more as it was so good.
