As a hater of "sheds" purporting to be a cinema, Richard Booth's cinema was a great discovery. Pop into the cinema itself, online or by phone, to book, which given the small size is probably essential. Don't bother asking in the bookshop, because you may repeat our experience and be told by the older lady staff member, rather sniffily "oh,... More

Not visited for some time. It has always been somewhere to eat mainly because the triple fried chips have been so good. Sadly not so this time. To be fair it could be the season and the potato variety was not available to make the crispy on the outside but floury on the inside chips that I have enjoyed. Still... More

Full marks for the bookshop. It's the best in Hay-on-Wye, and better than any in England (except possibly the one in Alnwick). The coffee, too, can't be faulted. The food is nothing to go out of your way for, but quite acceptable, particularly if you're keen to get back to the books!

Every fortnight or so, a performance of Shakespeare is `beamed' from a major theatre in London or Stratford. The most comfortable little cinema anywhere. You can relish Shakespeare with no distractions: no adverts, close-up view of the actors whose every word can ne heard. No queues, no rustllng of sweet papers, no-one coming and going during the performance Bar open... More

Every book imaginable and the best cafe in town. We bro used, we ate, we visited with the friendly locals. The place recommended by all the people we met.

We have stopped for coffee and a snack here several times over the past few years. The coffee and tea (no tea bags here) are always excellent as is the choice of cakes, etc. This time was no exception, with very friendly staff and immaculately clean surroundings. We'll be back!!

There are numerous cafe's in Hay, but this one has become my regular favourite. The staff are friendly and helpful, the coffee is always excellent and their menu changes regularly, showcasing seasonal produce. I'm vegetarian and gluten free, but they usually have something suitable for me to choose from, or they are happy to adapt dishes to suit.

I visited here a few months ago for a coffee with an old school friend. We were not looking for anything too special as our main aim was to simply catch up. But boy were we in for a surprise. The coffee and lunch we had (we had only intended having coffee, but stayed on for lunch as the food... More

We have visited this restaurant several times over the last few years when on holiday and always had lovely interesting food and service. We visited on Saturday 11th of June for lunch and ordered the Venison stirfry and can honestly say that it was the best stirfry we have both ever tasted! We also both had cakes for dessert which...
