This is the third year we’ve visited this restaurant before we head out to mainland Europe.
And once again it doesn’t fail in service and food.
Last year I made a mental note to share a starter with my husband as the portions are huge.
But this year we were going to eat the same dish and it worked out cheaper to order a special meal that included 2 starters!!
Win win all round 😂
Again I’d wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and shall return in 2025.

This restaurant is located on the Lease at Folkestone, a stones throw from our Hotel. It was a warm evening, the bifold doors were open and we were given a warm welcome when we entered. Decorated in typically Turkish decor as with the menu.
Served complimentary flat bread and olives, which very much reminded us of our holidays in Turkey.
I had the salmon fillet and my husband the mixed kebab of Lamb & Chicken. The portions were very good and the dishes were cooked to order and lovely and hot.
The lamb kebabs were exceptional, such tender lean meat, melted in your mouth.
Service was attentive. Really enjoyed it and would certainly recommend and go again when staying in Folkestone.

Delicious, authentic & generous meals, at such competitive prices.
Always tasty & fresh.
The special lunch offer (weekdays, upto 4 pm ), can't be beaten.
Calming picturesque location.
A wonderful 👍 welcoming staff, both Turkish & English, makes you feel at home.
The unexpected complimentary treats, are generous & special.
They cater for all preferences, even my 'fussy' Vegan.
We all, my family, friends & I, just love it. It's our favourite meeting place by far.
I find myself attracted to the quality characteristic decor, especially that of the famous Geeza pyramids. I feel being surrounded by the grandeur of the glorious Past.
May I also add that I genuinely enjoy the Turkish songs which create an authentic background, although I don't understand them. They're just relaxing.

Just a quick feedback on our last night food and service.
Obviously been there a few times and pretty much it’s been the same every time however last night was a bit rustier than usual.
The food is always has been the same standard so no complaints really.
The waitresses were a bit colder and not very enthusiastic towards the people coming there to dine.
It’s their duty to be cheerful, helpful.
What was very disappointing was the Turkish tea nothing special about it.
We spent a generous amount there last night as a big group in the end got charged £5.40 for a Turkish tea.
I mean we all want to make more money but come on for a 100ml of water with a bit of tasteless Turkish tea.
Very dissatisfied

I had the Sarma Beyti.
Firstly. The portion sizes are ridiculously large.
The sauce was ok, but the chicken was so dry the sauce could not make it edible.
I ate less than a quarter of my meal.
My partner had kofta chips and salad. This was also so dry that even with the salad and lots of mayonnaise he was not able to eat it.
One of the waiters saw we had not eaten much and asked if everything was ok. We explained how dry it was. He said he would inform the kitchen and took our plates away.
The manager (maybe) apologised. However when the bill came they did reduce it but still charged us 2/3. They said as we had eaten half which we had not, they would not take any more off.
£20 for some frozen chips, some dry kebab and salad is ridiculously expensive to start with.
Maybe they should focus on quality rather than volume of food.
We will definitely never eat here again.

Decided to stop here for dinner whilst on holiday for a few days
If your looking for a beautiful family friendly restaurant with authentic Turkish food then look no further
We were greeted with a warm welcome and made to feel comfortable straight away and presented with complimentary bread, olives and yogurt dip- yummy!
We had the mixed kebab which was beautifully cooked, full of flavour and accompanied by delicious sides and a portion so big we couldn’t finish it depute our best efforts
Would definitely return if we are here again

Apart from the food quality which stands out, the special authentic dishes, the generous portions, the varied options, & the competitive prices, the unique quiet & relaxing location (overlooking France across The English Channel), the comfortable bright seating area, the charming terrace with the lively plants, & the impressive decor (it's highly maintained with attention given to every detail), where else are we treated like royalties from start to finish!
Smiley decent looking staff, greet us & open the door when we arrive. & again when we leave with the generous treats in their hands!
We're impressed 👍!

We first visited this restaurant last November the night before we traveled to Mainland Europe.
We hadn’t made a reservation but the gentleman did let us have a table until the people who had actually reserved it arrived.
This year however I made a booking :-))))
And boy we weren’t disappointed just as good as last year!!!
And the portions are still as huge as last year, I’ve made a mental note to self not to both have starters next year :-)))) and share one.
Again I’d recommend anyone thinking of going to this restaurant BOOK ahead of time to avoid a big disappointment.

Prebooked a party of ten on a Monday lunch time. Arrived to a empty restaurant and even thought we are regular customers and thought our stay only another table of 2 & 4 arrived ive never received such shocking service or rudeness from staff. The lunch time menu might be good vaule but the disgusting way we was spoke to repeatedly, ignored several times and looked at with disgust means none of us will return. For a restaurant who rely on tourist custom im absolutely flabbergasted that they have treated all year round customers this way

Oh wow! What a wonderful evening! A large family/friend meal for my son-in-laws birthday catered by amazing waiting staff at a wonderful ambient and friendly restaurant. As a local Folkestonian, I can’t believe I waited this long to try Aspendos on West Terrace. The lamb chops were absolutely foogasmic! Can’t wait to go again! Thank you Nick and all your wonderful staff

Aspendos used to be our absolutely favourite however we've just got a takeaway and unfortunately it has become apparent that they just do not cater for veges anymore. I'm a meat eater so for me it is good value for money for what you get- Alot (hence 3*). The vegetarian meal of falafel as a main was pitiful tbh. What disappoints me is I had specifically phoned the restaurant and was told that the falafel main came with rice bread and salad and everything would be separate from the meat meal also being ordered but there was only one portion of everything and the rice was in with the meat. I wouldn't mind if we had ordered blind but we hadn't I had rang the restaurant but was told false information. I fear aspendos have lost a regular customer with us!

First visit since Covid having been a regular previously as a local resident. Went for the full lunch menu as opposed to the £9 2 course one. Calamari was OK but uninspiring then it all fell apart. Order of Lamb Shank Kleftiko was swimming in fat and over-salted water and totally inedible, whilst the Adana Kofta was again way too salty and dried out, well below the standard experienced previously.
On being asked whether our meal was OK we were told that had we complained as soon as we had received it, then they would have changed it, even though we had left at least three quarters or both meals.
Despite their charging half price for the lamb kleftiko the bill still came to £70 including 2 wines and 2 beers, way above what we usually pay in Folkestone for the excellent food that other restaurants and pubs serve.
Unfortunately we will not be returning to somewhere that used to be a favourite on summer's days.

We had lunch on a Saturday, and were very pleased with the quality of the food and the service at Aspendos. We ordered the Chicken Shish Kebab and the Lamb Shish Kebab. While these were cooking we were given a basket of fresh bread, cacik and mixed olives to start (included with the main course).
The Shish when they came were excellent, really generous portions and the meat was very tender. The portions were ample and with two types of rice and a salad of rocket, tomato and cucumber on the side we struggled to eat it all. We then were served small portions of Baklava (again included with the main). The bill came to just over £40 for two (with soft drinks) excluding service.
The service was excellent and we could watch the meal being prepared in the kitchen. We will be back.

We had a takeaway. Lamb Shish Kebab and Halep Kebab. We got Turkish flatbread, 2 types of rice and 2 and varied salads. It was delicious. There was loads...plus free baklava and sweets. The service was swift and excellent. The lamb cubes were huge. Wonderful food and service.

Having to change our hotel accommodation from Ashford to Folkestone we weren’t quite sure what restaurants were close to our new hotel.
But as it was on a bus route we court a bus into the town.
Arrived in the centre approx 16.30 in the dark winter night.
Noticed this restaurant as it was opening up, but decided to have a little walk and a coffee somewhere and check it out on trip advisor.
So pleased with the reviews we went back at 17.30, explained that we didn’t have a reservation to a gentleman at the door, he was very friendly attentive and very apologetic that unfortunately they were fully booked, but did explain that if we vacated a table by 19.00 we were more than welcome to eat.
That give us 1 & 1/2hrs to enjoy one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time.
Service was quick but not intrusive, you were given a nice free olives bread and dip.
Then at the end of this wonderful meal we received a Baklava!!
Then as you actually leave the restaurant you are given a sweet treat.
WITHOUT a doubt the next time we are using the Channel Tunnel I will definitely BOOK this restaurant, and advise anyone to do the same to avoid disappointment.
