We visited the Smugglers last night and had a thouroughly enjoyable meal. Firstly I sampled some of the Mango Cider on offer. It would have been rude not to given this is a Camra Real Cider Pub. This was delicious although quite sweet and tastes dangerously unalcoholic so i kept it to the one. For starter the 3 of us... More

We popped in for drinks after taking our dogs to the beach, and had a nice glass of wine in front of the open fire, lovely pub- with a sliding panelled wood door to get in- really cute! Dogs were welcome, and the man behind the bar was friendly and was happy to make lunch recommendations from the menu. Shame... More

We sought out this pub after reading great reviews on Trip Advisor and it was well worth it : delicious Sunday roast and friendly attentive staff who made us welcome and seated us with our grumpy toddler and checked in periodically. Quaint interesting grounds with views of fields of sheep and fish pond, wee pathways etc. Lovely!

Based on reviews here we thought this might be a good place to eat, but the first time we tried it was closed (perhaps we were too early, but it was a Saturday night...) and the second (Sunday) it was serving a very unappealing-looking carvery - we left without eating.

After a brilliant 'Madness weekender', us four girls enjoyed a gorgeous Sunday Lunch here yesterday. Two of us had walked along the beach from Minehead, which took around 90 minutes at a leisurely pace (blame the Pokemon hunter) and sorted out the fuzzy heads. Our plates were piled high with tender flavoursome meat and several veg choices. The veggie amongst... More

We were in Minehead for the day and took a walk along the beach to Blue Anchor with the Smugglers our destination for lunch (it's about 5 miles). The bar is warm and welcoming and our host Keith made us feel very welcome inc our dog. As would be expected mid week in November it was quiet. Good selection of... More

We popped in the Smugglers for a late lunch with the 3 kids to be told the kitchen shut 15 minutes before we got there. This was not a problem for the fantastic staff who were only happy to open the kitchen to accommodate us. We had the full menu to choose from and all had something different. The food... More

Called here for dinner on a Sunday evening. Welcoming staff. Three of us had the homemade Steak and Ale pie served with mash which was excellent. Our fourth diner had the fish and chips which was also excellent and a large portion. A good selection of real ales also on tap. It was a shame the pub was not very... More

Lovely surroundings, friendly welcome and service, great food. We had pie and veg. Sounds mundane, was anything but. Pie can't be described, has to be tasted. Puddings of similar standard. Very happy, well fed family. (Mum, Dad and kids 6 & 4). Only downside is that I ate too much and regretted it later, but that's my lookout. :-)

The Smugglers Inn offers a cosy bar, a delightful restaurant and accommodation by the sea at Blue Anchor Bay in Somerset. We are on the edge of Exmoor and the Quantock hills and make a perfect base for walking holidays. The West Somerset steam railway runs through Blue Anchor and the station is just along the road at the end of the bay. Blue Anchor beach is a long sandy beach and is just across the road from the Inn.
