Having been familiar with this pub for over 30 years we took a chance for a family meal here not knowing the current owners. The evening turned out fairly memorable for both good and bad reasons. Surprisingly (having been here many times over the years) it was very quiet on a Saturday evening. It was also very cold with a... More

Thank you for your review Mark. It was a rather odd evening - and one that exceptionally generated 2 negative reviews in addition to your mixed review (see below). Our Saturday nights are hugely variable - from full to relatively quiet. I think I might be forgiven for appearing mildly eccentric when faced with explaining that an order for 'no... More

We stopped in at The Winterbourne Arms for dinner en route from London to Cardiff last Friday night. We really enjoyed our time at the pub, which was very traditional. There was only one lady serving, which meant she was a bit stretched to cover both the bar and the restaurant service, but she was extremely helpful nonetheless. A good... More

Having booked a table for Sunday lunch, we arrived a little early for a pre-lunch drink. Upon arrival we were told to go and sit in the corner and wait. We sat and waited for 45 minutes without any further contact from the staff. During this time we witnessed the terrible service that our fellow diners were receiving. Several other... More

We booked lunch here last Saturday, specifically to treat our cousin from the USA to a special, old-fashioned pub meal. The first thing that struck us was how empty the restaurant was - having visited this pub for at least the last 15 years, it has always been very busy and we have always enjoyed the food offer. My husband... More

I stopped off at the Winterbourne Arms for a bite to eat and a beer. There was one lady trying to cope with everything and to be hones she appeared to be struggling even tough there were only about 10 people in the pub. I ordered fish and chips and a beer. I had a choice off plaice or haddock... More

Called for lunch to meet a friend on a bitterly cold day - no heating, no fire, completely disorganised, lousy expensive food, no wifi. Seriously, one to avoid !

We celebrated my husbands birthday over Halloween weekend with the family. The restaurant had been decked out for Halloween, the fire was alight and the restaurant was warm and welcoming. Our hosts were extremely friendly and obliging. We chose from a Halloween menu which was fun and the witches fingers very realistic! Our meal was tasty but my one criticism... More

We visited for the first time on Saturday for my Dad's birthday and all fell in love with the Winterbourne Arms. The pub has a lot of history and character, was decorated for Halloween and there was a lovely fire burning so it was really cosy. Our hosts couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and... More

This used to be such a great place, what happened? We ordered 'the special' mushroom soup only to be served luke warm so called 'spicy parsnip' soup. We got an apology.....the mains were slow in coming .... and not hot! And very ordinary. (I was not aware there was a shortage of carrots) Derserts was ordered by two of the... More
