One of the best meals we've had in a while, superb chef and will most certainly be back. We were visiting family and booked Sunday lunch. Warmly welcomed by the manager, efficient and friendly service. We had the Sunday roast board for 3 people - pork, beef and poussin with fantastic vegetables. The chef came out to chat, lovely man... We arrived after the races and asked if they had a spare table, the manager said he could squeeze us in despite that they clearly were not full with at least 3 empty tables all night. Whilst we waited we ordered drinks that he failed to get and then we witnessed the most unprofessional behaviour we have ever seen in... More

This is a smart modern pub with a good restaurant and a choice of well chosen beers and lagers. The young man who served me was friendly and efficient but the manager was a bit superior and not particularly welcoming... remember you are nothing without your customers.

Spent a pleasant evening in this family pub. Nice atmosphere but portions were on the small side. I had line caught mackerel, small fish surrounded by tomatoes galore but no chips, rice or bread to go with it. Had to order portion of chips or steal them from my family, as I did:).

We arrived at 6 on a Tuesday evening and there was nobody else in the restaurant, but there was a friendly atmosphere with some chattering carried over from the bar. We were soon presented with menus, and our starters came very quickly. I had pigeon breast and he had scallops, both of which we enjoyed. Then I had slow cooked... More

I am surprised! The service improved since my last review! Well done! I had a good time in The Newbury! Excellent Burguer! It seems that the old chef is back and also he came to our table to give a nice hello and ask about our experience! I will come back for sure!

Had a fantastic meal at The Newbury. Service was great. Lots of different options to choose from. It was pretty busy and had a good atmosphere. Will definitely go back.

Food. Wine. Service. Value for money. Faultless. My upside down shepherd's pie was just superb. The wine, suggested by the chef was not one I would normally have chosen, but twas a perfect accompaniment. Knowledgeable staff. Very comfortable surroundings and easy parking within walking distance. My first visit of many. What a find!!! 5🌟

We booked our 2 hour slot arriving at 11am. Upon arrival the chef advised us that the all you can eat brunch would end at 12pm due to people taking the pee (used a stronger word than that). No body contacted us to move the booking back and neither were we offered any kind of discount on the price. What... More

The staff we encountered were lovely here, our waitress was really friendly and the chef popped out to make sure we were happy with the table we'd been sat at. The food came out quickly and was very nice. One friend had the Ploughmans lunch and it was huge! I had the sausage and onion sandwich and my bread was... More
