Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.

When visiting the South Cliff area of Scarborough this little tea room is well worth a try. The individual booths provide a trip back in time, as does the pretty china and leaf tea. If you enjoy a good selection of homemade cakes, afternoon tea, soup or savoury tartlets, all at a reasonable price, then this is the place for you.... More

So so friendly. Everything homemade. Only problem for disabled is there are are a flight of stairs down to the toilets. That can't be changed. Apart from that everything is level. The owners help you all they can. Unlimited coffe or tea

We called in here after a recommend from another guest at our hotel. We enjoyed the excellent fruit scones with tea for my wife & coffee for myself. The interior is quirky - the tables being positioned in the individual booths of a former ladies hairdressers. The staff were very attentive, without being fussy. We were sorry that we had... More

Our little girl (Tilly) spent her second and third birthday at this beautiful little gem of a tea room, and we have now just made our annual visit for her fourth birthday. We had only got halfway down the Esplanade afterwards when Tilly was excitedly asking if we can go back for her next birthday. The answer was YES, as... More

Came across the tea rooms by chance- we noticed their blackboard on the esplanade and took a look. You cant see much from the front window but were really glad we ventured inside - a proper old fashioned tea room in an old hairdressing 'salon'. The tables are in individual wooden booths that were previously used by the hairdressers with... More

Visited here on Friday for lunch with my sister and the staff were very friendly! We had afternoon tea which was so lovely, me and my sister couldn't stop saying how nice everything was! The loose leaf tea makes a great change and the sweets on the table along with the extra hot water was a really kind gesture. We... More

Visited this tea room with a group of friends at the weekend. We were made to feel very welcome and were seated in a booth which was vintage decor with cutlery, crockery etc beautiful laid out. The menu was varied and had a great selection of cakes sandwiches etc. We had the afternoon tea which was a selection of sandwiches... More

A friendly welcome greets you and you are then ushered into your semi private tea party location to choose from an extensive menu. I'm not terribly adventurous when it comes to food and our waiter seemed disappointed that my limit of preference was a peppermint tea and a fruit scone with jam. My wife had similar but with a chai... More
