Faultless. A little piece of history in Scarborough being preserved. It was a hairdressers in the 1930's and the tables to eat are set in little booths were previously clients would have had their hair coiffured. The couple who run it are very kind, enthusiastic about their Tea rooms and we loved it. Took two old school friends both from... More

Afternoon tea for five, £32.50 which these days is excellent value. Well worth a visit, we'll definitely return! Very nice extra touches and well presented.

I have been here several times the owners seem to go out of their way to make it a great experience. Attentive and helpful. The found is simple but delicious, presentation is tasteful and thoughtful you can tell they have a real passion for food. It's out of the way but that makes it more desirable the building and interior... More

Called into this lovely tea room, on the off chance they were still doing food. We were given a warm welcome and lovely smile! The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The food was yummy and the service was very fast. It was one of our party's birthday, although we never mentioned this, when we ordered cake... More

Really disappointing as we called twice and on both days it was closed with "Private function" on the door. It would have been useful if the sign had said how many days the cafe was closed for!

This is a delightful and unusual tea room - and well worth a visit. It is slightly off the main tourist area-but actually not far ( just behind the Italian/Spa gardens). We wouldn't have found it without TripAdvisor -but it really is great. It is an old restored hairdressing salon -with the wood panelled booths adapted as tea rooms. The... More

We had a table of six to celebrate our daughters 12th Birthday. Sarah decorated our booth with banners and balloons and even wrote a birthday message on the chalk board outside. The afternoon tea was wonderfully delicious and the service was amazing. We have had many afternoon teas at many different places but tea at Francis was by far the... More

Worth a walk through the Italian Gardens and out the other side (away from The Grand) to South Street to fiind Francis Tea Rooms. Used to be a Victorian Hairdressers. Has individual booths with tables and chairs. Go to rear and look at stained glass window. Vintage cups etc for sale. Good selection of teas, coffee not so good (shame),... More

We came upon this by accident while looking for somewhere to lunch on Saturday. There was the two of us and our 6 year old child. My self and my husband had salmon sandwiches and our son had plain cheese. All came with a side salad, home made potato salad (extra yummy) and coleslaw. The sandwiches were freshly made and... Description
Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.
