Came here last year for Sunday lunch and had a great meal, there's new owners now but the standards on a Sunday are still extremely high. Beef that melts in the mouth, so tender and juicy, flavoursome lamb and the desserts are excellent, we had the Guinness sticky toffee pudding with caramel ice cream and strawberry pavlova, both fantastic. While staying at the caravan park next door we visited the first evening with our well behaved cockapoo! My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed the cheese soufflé & Parma ham & melon with Yorkshire blue cheese as starters. This was followed by delicious fish & chips for him & a tasty, beautifully tender lamb curry for me. Reasonably priced, great... More

My wife and I had an evening meal here, the fish and chips I had was under cooked, my wife burger was very nice though, won't be going again as not good standard, and was expensive for what we had.

I've still not eaten and it's 4pm the next day! A fantastic meal and superb restaurant - portions aren't ridiculously huge, just perfect in size, flavours and content... as such anything I've fancied eating so far today has has a lot to live up to! Creamed mushroom starter had so much flavour yet none of the component parts overpowered any... More

Visited on a holiday to Yorkshire and found this pub in the good pub guide. Absolutely wonderful. Me and my partner had the lamb breast which was delicious. The puddings were also of a very high caliber. We ate in the bar and the atmosphere was warm and all the staff were lovely. We would definitely go back!

My wife and I called in for a drink and left 6 hours later having been fed and watered at this lovely old inn and vowing to return for a B&B stay. Firstly, the staff and owners were excellent. Attention to detail was exacting and very welcome. We sampled a very well kept cask ale called Sparkle, then another. This... More

Called in after a walk having booked a table for 7pm on a Sunday night. Two of us had Sunday Lunch and two had the special of cod and salmon goujons with chips and a side salad. The food was absolutely fabulous. Food is served from 12pm to 8pm on a Sunday.

We had visited this venue on previous occasions, all be it with different tenants. With the most recent tenants this was our second visit, our fist was a couple of months ago for a Sunday lunch which was excellent. Our latest visit was for an evening meal over the Bank holiday weekend. We arrived a little early, we ordered our... More

Had a lovely break, the food was superb, the staff could not do enough for you, really old world, fantastic atmosphere. Would not hesitate to recommend this inn. The countryside is fabulous and Scarborough is only 9 miles away.
