We ate here twice for both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast perfect. Excellent food small menu but excellent variety. Dinner the choice was great, food cooked exceptionally well. Chicken stuffed with Black Pudding was fantastic and the Mousse dessert was beautiful. Waitress service was friendly and very attentive,

We were well taken care of as soon as we arrived, and served a great meal which was well presented. Although a little pricey it was worth it as the local tradesmen would have benefited too.

Dinner was good, not more then that. Prices are very high and we were a bit surprised at that. You can pay for a 2 or 3 course dinner.

I was surprised at the high standard of food and service at this traditional restaurant. My first trip to this area and it was a pleasure to dine at Glen Lui. Scollops were quite perfect followed by a rack of local tender lamb, beautifully cooked. I strongly recommend a visit to this restaurant albeit a bit pricey but worth it.

The Glen Lui has been a favourite of ours for many years on our trips to Ballater. This year I was disappointed and felt standards were slipping a bit. My starter of mussels, brie in a filo basket just did not work for me. The duck was minimal, 3 slices of breast. Sorry, won't be back..

We stayed in the Glen Lui for a couple of days for our anniversary - and couldn't have chosen a better setting. Set in its own garden / woodland setting over-looking the golf course. We spent our first day sipping wine in the lounge and watching red squirrels play just outside the window. The restaurant is also highly rated, and... More

We were recommended the steak here by a local and we were not disappointed. It was Aberdeenshire aged steak which was very tender and tasty, even without additional sauces. Perhaps very slightly overdone, but the meat was still very tender. However, it was not cheap, £25 for the steak, but worth it. The rest of the menu sounded nice -... More

Four of my party of five had the Aberdeenshire aged steak and all of us found the steak to be truly excellent. It was succulent, tasty and tender. Service was excellent. The restaurant has a posh interior to match the prices. The steak cost GBP 25 but it was well worth the cost. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The chef really knows what he's doing and creates delicious dishes that combine regional products and fine European cuisine. We loved it.
