This is my favourite place to eat in Bedford. It has a fantastic location opposite the river so you can sit outside on a nice day and it is very pleasant. The decor inside is just beautiful and the food really is very very good. There is a bar menu with things like pulled pork burger or hot dogs but... More

This is a busy pub With a lot of people outside on a warm summers night The food is good but the surrounding noise make the venue not a super place to be I found that the atmosphere was not pleasant and would not and have not been back

Stayed two nights here in a room that reached 80 degrees at night with a small top window that was the only opening out into an alleyway with a view of the next buildings brick wall 8 feet away. A small fan that moved the hot air around the room was provided by the pub. The en suite shower has... More

Have visited for food quite a few times, things are changing as it is not as good as it was. The food doesn't seem to be made to the high standard that was there and the Sunday roast is served with what tastes like reheated veg instead of freshly cooked to your order. Not sure if the chef has changed... More

There is nothing nicer locally to us than slow cooking a gammon and heading for the river in light summer evenings We have done this for many years now and I still love this place You can walk whichever direction you like plenty of open space, many bridges, ice cream vans usually stay late in summer Plenty of people here... We popped in here a few times over the weekend that we were at the river festival. The beer and service was excellent. My only small gripe was that both male toilet cubicles and the hand dryer were out of use. On an extremely busy weekend like this that was not a good thing.

Very popular pub , and restaurant with am excellent location on the embankment. Gets very busy on warm days and evenings as they have the outdoor seating overlooking the embankment. Food is a bit pricey but then it is a great location.

Had a wonderful time in the private dining room with work colleagues for our Christmas meal. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was very festive. The booking process was actually perfect! Only slight let down was the waitress, but with a group of 22, she has her hands full! Highly recommended though.

Visited on a Sunday for an evening meal . Roast was good but could have been better with more carrots on the plate and not such overdone cauliflower cheese . Cost of wine was to much for the quality . All in all not worth the price charged so would not visit again

There are not many places for an evening meal on a Sunday evening so a last minute booking for a birthday took us here. We sat outside which was pleasant (inside was nicely decorated) but the menu disappointed. The fishcakes hardly had any fish in them -might as well called them potato cakes, the steak overcooked. For the price it... More

Description
The Embankment is an imposing mock-Tudor pub with rooms in the heart of Bedford. The clue to our location is in the name! We sit right in the middle of Bedford's beautifully-landscaped Embankment, with wonderful views out over the River Great Ouse, the boathouses and all the hustle and bustle of life on the river.
