Booked a table at David's for my husband's birthday treat...wow! Read the reviews and looked at the menu and thought we'd give it a go and it did not disappoint. I had the sweet potato an celeriac starter and it was gorgeous...flavour explosion in my mouth! My husband ordered the chicken breast stuffed with haggis for his main and I... More

We booked for our wedding anniversary. Reviews showing best restaurant in Carlisle. What a let down. My wife had the Smooth Duck Liver and Grand Marnier Parfait starter and said it was nice, I had the Thai Style Crab and Prawn Fishcakes they were nice but a very small potion and had to pay a supplement of £2-00 extra. Wife's... More

This review comes as no surprise these are my counter points. 1. I'm pleased you found the Duck Liver Parfait nice. 2. We serve 3 ample fishcakes with accompanying Papaya salad a sufficient starter size and with regard to the £2 supplement this is common practice with king prawn & fresh crab dishes. 3. When a customer orders the venison... More

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and where better than at David's, once again it did not disappoint. I started with sweet potato and celeriac roulade with poached spiced pear and candied walnut salad, followed by roast free range chicken breast filled with haggis on crushed neeps with whisky cream sauce, it was delicious. My husband started with potted smoked... More

This place had lots of great reviews and there are nice things about this place ie the table is your for the night. A big no was the huge supplement added if you only have 1 course . A £6.00 extra charge. How cheeky can you be! please see the picture and look at the bottom. The room: nice and... More

Thank you for your feedback. 1. Yes the table is generally yours for the evening although we have started opening earlier at 6pm to allow a few tables to accommodate a second sitting after 8pm. 2. The supplement you mention is very rarely needed to be imposed and if you had mentioned this on the evening perhaps we could have... More

We booked this restaurant a week in advance for 5 adults on a Friday night. We arrived and were shown to our table in a nice and polite manner. We were handed the menus straight away and asked if we wanted any drinks, we ordered the drinks which came quite quickly, and we were left for a little while, while... More

Went to Davids this evening for dinner and had a fabulous meal. Service was excellent as usual and they also catered for my husband's gluten free diet, allowing him to eat the majority of the same excellent menu. Well done again Emily and Chris. Looking forward to coming again at Xmas. Jacky and Terry Stockdale

Not sure about how expensive it is as I didn't pay the bill! All I can attest to is the food is great - from the starters to the desert. They also recommended a Portuguese wine which we were dubious about, not least because it had an English name - but it wasn't bad at all.

A change of plans kept us in Carlisle for lunch so we popped in without booking. it was nearly full but we got a table for two. I had duck pate, that was nice, Joyce had sweet potato & goat cheese. We both had a perfectly cooked, generously sized piece of cod which was excellent, a well priced bottle of... More

We managed to get a table the night we were up there, and we both had a wonderful evening. My wife loved her soufflé and veg tart, I I can honestly say my tuna and then lamb cooked two ways was one the nicest meal I had eaten in twelve months, and only 12 months because I ate taster menus... More
