I have previously visited Greyfriars for afternoon tea and was impressed by the whole experience. After that visit I had recommended Greyfriars to several people, as a lovely place to have a relaxing afternoon. Unfortunately, my latest visit was anything but relaxing and I left...More

Despite the nice decor and high end prices, the service was pretty poor: waiters didn’t even recognise the dishes, let alone who at the table had ordered which dish. We ordered a bottle of red, which no one at the table could drink. So although...More

A very relaxing afternoon tea (gentlemen’s version ie savoury not with cakes) in the Rose Room at Greyfriars. Vast selection of teas and coffees or you can have wines, beers or Prosecco.

A first class experience. Dinner with family visiting from Scotland was so memorable. Broad choices from an interesting menu. Quality ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented with flair. Service is attentive without being over bearing. Probably the best place to eat in Colchester and its surrounds.
