Absolutely love this little gem. Best food I've had in a long time. Real home cooked taste to it all and generous portions. The staff are fantastic especially the young man who seems to be 'host', really polite and eager to please. Visit here a lot!

Visited for lunch with a friend, good food and good value! A little unclear as to whether we should wait to be seated or help ourselves and it's a shame it's not open in the evenings!

Home made food, big good value portions. I had the omelette with ham and mushrooms with a side and a big coffee and it came to £8 roughly. They now have a vegan menu also which my friends tried from and really liked also. Very Friendly and lovely staff.

Love it here come to timbers quite often for breakfast on a Sunday morning , staff are all very friendly and are always attentive without being over evasive. In my opinion the best breakfast in colchester if your after a traditional fry up .

I have visited this restaurant a lot and always had good food but went for lunch today and like normal the food was good but as i was half way through my meal when a waitress came over and placed a reserved sign and a scruffy note with a name and time who they were reserving the table for but... This little restaurant was an absolutely brilliant little find some years ago. We regularly visit here on our trips to colchester town. The staff are friendly and can almost always accommodate you when you turn up. The range of food in this place is that of a larger chain and in my opinion is far superior quality and quantity too!... I had the toad in the hole from the specials board and my partner had the chicken, leek and ham pie. Service was great, food even more so. When the bill came, I couldn't believe how well priced it was. Definitely recommend and will be back!

We had never tried Timbers out before but had always heard good things. Having turned vegan in August last year we wouldn't have thought of it but for the boards outside advertising the new GF and vegan menus. We were in and upstairs in a flash - the somewhat dark décor and uneven flooring hardly detracting from our excitement once... More
