Good food

A friend and I went for a quick lunch in the week just before Christmas. I tend to try and aim for 11.30ish as I know too well how long the queue can be. We were a bit later but it was amazingly quiet, clearly midweek in winter is the time to go! The oysters were great, the hot plates... read more

There's a point where shabby chic becomes just plain shabby. Dirty table cloths, dirty cutlery. They forced us to share a small table with a couple sucking jellied eels. The Company Shed is really up itself and like a spoilt child s not to blame. Alongside Farrow & Ball Paint and the Aga it's been buoyed up by the Chelsea... More

Ok so I've been here before and didn't like t then either, the food to be fair is the BEST seafood you will buy at a reasonable price, so if that's all you want you will not be disappointed. As a restaurant it's dreadful, the staff are young but surly and rude, yea they are busy but they just have... More

Had some lovely lunch in the past. However went for lunch with some family visiting it was very disappointed. We were told that the next table would be 2 hours wait which we did not mind as we could go back at the time we were given, but the place was not busy the staff seems to be lost. We... More

Very nice and attentive staff. Seafood was good and fresh. We had a seafood platter, which I thought was very tasty- especially smoked salmon. Spicy crab cakes were amazing. Will be back again. P.s. definitely try Mersea island white wine Summer days- it was gorgeous!

This is a rustic, casual restaurant with wooden chairs & benches, no tablecloths. They only sell mostly raw fish from a counter. You can take in your own bread and drink to have with it (nothing else, no salads etc.). Plates, cutlery, glasses & sauces are provided. You may share a table with other customers. A friendly, jolly atmosphere, to... More

Our first visit only ordered two hot dishes next time would order three dishes very tasty but wish had gone for a sea food platter . Fun place I don't like oysters... More

Took relatives from American West coast who love seafood. This did not disappoint. But it is a small place with only a few tables so be prepared to wait. You can take your own alcohol because it is not licensed.

It really is just a shed that sells fresh fish and cooked meals. Nothing sophisticated about the place, but the food fresh from the sea and as tasty as you can get. You can't book, so get there early.
