We visited as a work party, excellent selection of food and wine and service was top quality, but just not enough staff to cover

I only frequent this establishment a couple of times per year, however I have always enjoyed my dining experiences. This inn has an "olde worlde" atmosphere, with friendly and courteous staff.

We had been to the food fair on the meadow and went to the Exeter for lunch. We were not disappointed.

I visited here with my family. Grandparents, grandchildren etc. The service was great and friendly. I had high hopes that the food would also be of the same standard but we were disappointed. We ordered the Sunday Roast which came out Luke warm but edible. 2 of us ordered beef, this was very tough and fatty and no steak knives... More

Had a meal there last night. Black sheep real ale is a great start. Starter was very good and the steak excellent. The chef enjoyed cooking a rare to blue steak and was interested to know my thoughts on it. It's rare to find a chef that really knows how to cook a steak properly and he does. The service... More

A great improvement since the last time we visited. Menu options were good and plenty of options for gluten free. Waiting staff interested in their jobs but some looked in experienced. They prepared an excellent fruit salad for dessert although is wasnt on the menu. Surprising there was only about 4 tables with guests for the whole evening. Could have... More

Warm and welcoming. Good food in our experience although we only had beef sandwich lunch. Menu looked interesting. On the pricey side, but worth trying.

Situated on a main road this country pub with rooms might be missed as you travel to Stamford, this would be a great mistake. The restaurant is tastefully furnished with wooden tables, all different and laid with proper linen napkins and shining glasses. We enjoyed the well prepared and cooked food, all straightforward pub classics such as Lincolnshire sausages with mash... 13 of us sat in the conservatory of this very attractive restaurant and enjoyed a terrific sunday lunch with excellent friendly service, Most of us had a roast which was beautifully cooked, moist meat, tasty vegetables, and lovely gravy. Others had fish which they said was delicious.Puds were to die for, particularly the fruit tart. All very easy and comfortable.... More
