I must say the lunch at Lyst was one of the most disappointing food experiences in a while for me. I would not say this restaurant is in any way “Mexican”, Tex mex at best, and barely that. We ordered chicken sandwich, chicken salad, chili...con carne and snack platter. Chicken sandwich had way to much bread, and the filling was distributed unevenly, so some bites were just bread, or just bread and cheese. Chicken salad was ok, but the two dressings did not combine well. Chili con carne did not taste chili at all! Come on, at least offer a chili sauce next to it for those who expect chili taste in chili con carne (madness, I know). The snacks platter offered a pair of very decent chicken wings, a pair of onion rings with no actual onion inside, and a bowl of dry nacho chips, topped with some tex mex spiced beef mince, dry, not even slightly melted shredded cheese and some salsa. Oh, and fries. My friend told me they recently switched from being a decent lunch spot, to this, I am sorry, abomination. Please go back to being good. From the two “stars” I chose to give this restaurant, 1.5 are for the only waitress in the restaurant, who worked her behind off, and somehow still remained polite and cheerful, hats off to you, miss! The restaurant is far too large to have only one waiter, especially considering the pandemic and all the extra work the staff has to do. 0.5 stars is for chicken wings.More

Me and my gf went there to eat. We normally love mex tex food, but this was not good at all. We had a bacalao mex tex where my gf tried find the fish inside whitout any luck, and i had one mex tex burger...that was overfried, dry and very small. Strange thing is that no one came and ask how the food is.More

Having been here 5 years ago and enjoyed the food, decided to eat lunch here today. The menu, decor and theme has changed since last time. Now it’s a Tex-Mex restaurant with the standard Tex-Mex choices as well as a few other things like bacalao...and fish soup. We had quesadillas, taco and vegan nachos and enjoyed our food. The prices were reasonable for Norway and the service was friendly. The restaurant is casual, clean and nicely decorated. It is a popular place and gets busy at lunchtime. There’s a sizable outdoor area for good-weather days. There’s a sign in the door leading outside that it isn’t allowed to consume alcohol outside.More

We are vegetarians and there was only the veggie burger. We also ordered starters because there were no others vegetarian options. The starters all turned out to be fried. Not bad but nothing special.

It is so expensive everything in Norway, so it is strange to get cold meal out from microwave oven for 30 eur.

We had Fish & Chips and the fish soup. The fish soup was loaded with fish and shrimp. The Fish & Chips breading wasn’t too heavy and not greasy at all. All very very good and service was very friendly and fast

The food was delicious and although the menu wasn't extensive, there is something for everyone. Reasonably priced, great service and lovely atmosphere. I can not recommend it highly enough.

By the time we checked into our hotel after flying in from Stockholm via Oslo, it was quite late and we were just in time to order our dinner as it was nearing their closing time. But a young girl greeted us with a welcome...smile and seated us in a packed restaurant on a Saturday evening at possibly the only table available. We wanted to order the Bacalao but it was over (being nearer to the closing time), so we settled in for the Creamy Fish Soup and Fish and chips. Both were very good - fresh and tasty. We finished off with delicious piece of cake that was not in the menu but recommended by the enthusiastic order taker who had initially greeted us. (am forgetting her name but she was from Nepal and spoke Norwegian besides english ofcourse - hard working, pleasant and very courteous) So when you have good food accompanied by good service, its bound to be a hit. Thanks to Lyst Cafe, our first evening in Alesund ended well.More

It can be very crowded there, so it would be best to make a reservation.
