We ate downstairs in the pub because we heard it was much cheaper than the restaurant upstairs. It was still a little more expensive than we'd hoped, and the food was good but not great. I tried the reindeer wrap, which was fun to try,...More

Our last night in Bergen, we weren't sure where to eat. I read somewhere there was a gastropub just outside the city centre, and I found it online. We weren't sure but chanced we could get in without booking. When we arrived it was busy...More

We were looking forward to eating here on the basis of the reviews we’d seen. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Really poor service from the guy in the bar, limited menu and zero atmosphere downstairs. Really disappointing/pretty dull all in all!

It's been too long since we last visited this restaurant. The service and quality of the food is still at a great level. Without a booking in advance we ended up in the downstairs pub. The music was not too loud, tickling our ears as...More

We found the restaurant by accident, but we were so pleased that we did. We had beef fillet, reindeer and cod. We were all so impressed with all of the meals. We were not going to have dessert, but we're so pleased that we did....More

A bit unusual setup - upstairs is a pretty neat restaurant with a serious and tidy setting, while downstairs is a "walk-in-no-reservations" type pub slash café. The latter was paid a visit. Very chill atmosphere full of people who enjoy exactly that. Very wide selection...More

This restaurant is not for people in a wheelchair. The menu was small, but I missed a chicken dish. The food I ate, cod, was good and the portion ok. Wanted a bottle of water without carbonic acid, but they did not. The service was...More

Although there’s a very good main restaurant, the cellar provides a simpler, cheaper menu and even the drinks are cheaper than a lot of other Bergen restaurants. What is lacking in decor is made up by the genuine charm and helpfulness of the staff. If...More

We explored the backstreets away from the Bryggen area, to find something away from the tourists, and settled on Naboen. we ate in the restaurant area, not downstairs in the bar. I had a steak-it didn't quite compare with Australian beef, but overall it was...More

On a recommendation from a local resident of Bergen, we had an incredible meal at Naboen. The wait staff was warm and friendly and our two servers were passionate about the food they served. We started with an earthy beet soup with goat cheese and...More

Dear Judy There is no access ramp, but it's only two steps from the sidewalk to the entrance door so it is possible for most wheelchair users to access the restaurant.

The name "Naboen" means neighbor, and this is just what the Naboen Pub & Restaurant is, a friendly and inviting place to eat and drink. Hospitality is job one here, and the Scandinavian kitchen, staff and culinary tradition are representative of Norway. The food is all made from scratch, as it would have been two hundred years ago - no processed ingredients allowed. Naboens' menu is a culinary delight, one heaped in Nordic tradition, and best of all moderately priced. Guests here partake of Norwegian food and spirits as they should be enjoyed, Bergen style.
