We made a reservation after read the reviews her. It was a very rainy day and the restaurant was a bit hidden in a cellar. Very nice and basic interior. Very friendly and professional staff. The menu was not too big but very interesting. The...food was really good, also the wine. They also had a very nice local gintonic. Very good value and we will definitely come back. Very down to earth atmosphere what we did appreciate very much.More

We had great expectations to Bare Vestland. Local ingredients prepared by excellent chefs and a good atmosphere for a meal. The menu is very simple with few options to choose from, but the prices are very reasonable. The waiter seemed a bit surprised when we...asked for recommendations, but we followed his lead and shared mussels for starter and had «plukkfisk» and «burger» as the main course. The mussels were OK - but the broth was a bit weak in taste. The «plukkfisk» was good - but the fat and bacon should perhaps be served on the side so that you can decide how «fatty» you want to have it. The biggest disappointment was the pulled pork «burger». Good trimmings, but the meat tasted like pork fat and did not have the expected meaty or barbecue flavor. All in all an OK (average) meal, but nothing more.More

The restaurant offers a small menu and we tried different dishes including beef stew, mussels, burger and salad. All of them of excellent quality. Great taste and nice environment. The staff is also helpful and we will definitely return. The wine list is a bit...limited.More

We had beer and meat stew, a wonderful transition back to grandmothers stew back-in-the-days. Local beer, and wine that went well with it. A nice, but too informal service as I orderes two diffrent wines, one as a welcome drink and the other to go...with the stew. However, was never asked what wine I wanted first, resulted in "the wrong" wine served. But overall we had a good experience. However one thing, the hamburgers were supposely only 100g and you were supposed to order more from the menue, didn't really catch that concept other than that they probably encouraged you to buy the 4 course dinner.More

Staff was great at explaining the menu and how the food is prepared. Soundtrack was excellent too. Orders are now done via online/smartphone but can also be done via the waiter.

I have been to Bare Vestland many times over the years. I would go as far to say that it is one of my favourite restaurants in Bergen. Or should I say it was one of my favourites... The new concept of Burgers and Mussels...is lacking. A small pulled pork burger for 185kr? Really? I was expecting something pretty special. Not something that was just "OK". Mussels were of decent quality but the two sauce varieties that we ordered were basically indistinguishable from each other. Just a shame really...hoping they go back to the old concept.More

I think the food depends on which season it is (which time of the year). Will probably try again in summertime. Some courses were good others meh. Great atmosphere tho, and the waiter was such a nice and lively person. Kudos to him :-)
