After weeks of travelling and eating out, this genuinely tasted like real home cooking. Definitely recommend

This place was literally around the corner from my hotel. I read on tripadvisor that they cook Norwegian home food. I didn't try the food but had drinks before dinner. I really liked the relaxed and cosy atmosphere, it's full with locals. The menu looked short but interesting. I liked it so much that I went back after dinner. I... More

This is a pub but serves good dinner items and is reasonably priced. I had the fish pie with macaroni and my husband had the lamb sausage. They were simply prepared to allow the main ingredients to shine. And they did not use a lot of cream and butter which was a nice break for us. Next time I would... More

We went to Pingvinen for dinner our first night in Norway because we read reviews about it's traditional food. We started with the Norwegian cheese plate. We were really hungry and it was very tasty. I got the meatball dish with lingonberry sauce. It was delicious! My husband got the lamb and wild garlic sausages and he loved his too.... More

Food was fine, service was pretty unfriendly (contrary to stereotypes, in Norway and Bergen, loads of places are super friendly but not here, on our visit at least), but the awful shrieking head-banger heavy metal music just after midday was not really to our taste. Wouldn't recommend it just for that, but who knows, on another day with a different... More

Pingu is still going strong, some 10 minus years after inauguration. Food is traditional norwegian, well made at a survivable price point. I had saussage and my gf had plukkfisk. The latter was found wanting. It's a good pub in the evenings. Service was not customer centric but not horrible either.

A very homely and friendly atmosphere, with very obliging and helpful staff. It was packed when we visited, which is a good sign! We were able to find seats, but I think at peak times you will struggle. Menu contained many local dishes and they were fantastic. Very swift in arriving. Local beer was very good and the overall price... More

Quiet local restaurant serving traditional Norwegian food for relatively good prices. The food was very good, and paired with the bar serving local beer, provided a memorable meal. Slightly off of the beaten tourist path, but well worth the short walk.

We ate here two nights in a row, and tried different main courses. I particularly liked the sausages. The local beer was good, although not cheap (Norwegian prices..)
